Share with us your perspective on Coronavirus
It has been a horrible experience and still is, personally and socially.
How did you discover you had it?
I was told by my doctor when I rang the GP (General Practitioner) Practice
I had flu-like symptoms that were deteriorating by the day….
I had used all sorts of remedies to boost my immune system and also treat the supposed flu ,all to no avail I was getting worried and sensed that time wasn’t on my side. I rang the dedicated NHS helpline 111, but couldn’t get through as they’re inundated with calls, so I braced it and called the GP Surgery to speak with my personal Doctor who was not around on the day…..
I was quite desperate as I had lost my sense of smell and taste. So, I was desperate to speak to any Doctor. The receptionist took my details and within minutes, a doctor called me back to do a telephone assessment…
She confirmed my worst fear which a Naturopath had also confirmed the day before.
What was your immediate reaction? Did you breakdown or you took it in good faith
I broke down because of all the reports on the TV, Social Media, etc
What are the symptoms and what did you feel?Did you suffer all the symptoms?
I suffered most of the symptoms…..
My nose felt heavy, I had severe body aches, dizzy spells, loss of smell and taste, headaches, cough and chest pain.
How did you go about treatment? Did you go to the hospital? Did you go for test?
I couldn’t go the hospital because we had already been told not to come to the hospital and also, the Holy Spirit told me to make sure I don’t end up in hospital because it wasn’t safe.
Even the doctors said there was nothing the hospital could do because it was not yet in my lungs and that, since it’s a new disease, they didn’t really have any remedy or a vaccine.
The day before I spoke with a doctor from my GP Practice, my spiritual daughter in Nigeria sent me a message to find out how I was doing and I told her my symptoms and that I suspected I might have contracted the virus. She immediately sprung into action and put me in contact with a Pastor-cum- Naturopath by the name Deji Alabi who resides in Canada.
Did you Quarantine your self and family members?
Yes, I immediately started self-isolation I started feeling sick and stopped my son from coming to my room or anywhere around me.
What is your message to Nigerians on how to cope with Coronavirus epidemic?
My initial message to Nigerians is that, they should not panic.. Panic induces stress and stress affects your immunity.
Second, nature has blessed us especially in our part of the world with some natural herbs such as the Cinchona which is quinine in it’s original form. Third, they must practise social distancing, washing their hands, sanitizing the environment and make sure they are not dehydrated
Above all, God plays a pivotal role in this journey.
I am not saying others who have been badly affected are not protected by God, I just found favour and no one can take that fact away from me because it’s a personal experience.
What is your advice to our leaders and decision makers
Hmmm! Our Leaders need to invest and maintain the health sector in Nigeria.
I believe they can also collaborate with Naturopathic practitioners to aid research because I believe Creation and medication go hand in hand and neither can exist without the other
What are the myths and fiction about Coronavirus disease?
Well there are so many. Some say it’s man-made, some say it’s a plague from God, some initially said black people or muslims can’t get it because of ablution before praying…
Irrespective of the myths, it is real and it is deadly!
You are a woman of God and this happened to you. Did you pray and ask God Why?Why?Why me?
I never asked why me. All I kept saying crying was “Mercy Lord, Mercy!”
Within me, I wasn’t scared for some reason, I thought before the doctor’s diagnosis that, even if it were the virus, I’m coming out of it and no evil would befall me.
I have a covenant with God where I dedicated the whole of my birth month(August) to aloneness with God and one of the reasons. He commanded me to do this annually is to preserve me. I have an array of medical needs, yet you wouldn’t know unless I told you. All the glory is to God
