2023 City People Music Awards Holds In LAGOS

The 2023 City People Music Award,  took place on Sunday August 27th, 2023, at VI Sidewalk Lounge & Bar. This annual award ceremony brought together veterans and talents from various music genres to appreciate their remarkable contributions.

The founder of the event, who is the Publisher of City People, Seye Kehinde expressed his gratitude, attributing the success of the awards to the grace of God. The evening started with the enchanting tunes of Queen Madiva and  her Band, setting the tone for the entry of distinguished guests and awardees.

Beautiful Fisayo Alabi skillfully introduced the guests, including notable figures like Ludare, Juju musician; Halima, “Monique, and other artists representing diverse genres. Seye Kehinde, in his opening speech, thanked the attendees for their humility and punctuality, underscoring the event’s theme of appreciation.

Notable personalities present included Yinka Davies, Kunle Adegbitee, chairman of Sidewalk Group, and Otunba Onifade. On behalf of the City People Magazine management, gratitude was expressed for the support received and the Publisher revealed that City People will be 27 in a matter of months and the upcoming first anniversary of City daily Magazine on Digital, with the main magazine celebrating its 27th anniversary in November 2023.

The Publisher acknowledged the challenges of staying relevant in the evolving media landscape, expressing optimism about the future while promising a star-studded and memorable evening. The MC praised Mr. Kehinde’s practice of recognizing individuals during their lifetime and shared a special song to appreciate him.

The award presentations began with Mr. Akin Fatuke a music enthusiast  presenting to Righteousman, who expressed his gratitude and dedication to working harder. Ludare Olateju received an award for his remarkable devotion to the industry, highlighting his deep connection to the City People Magazine. Halima Aiyila Omowura received recognition for her contribution to the music industry and serenaded the audience.

Yinka Davies was honored for her iconic contributions, while Sammy Sodeke accepted the award on behalf of Aristos band. Sidewalk Lounge and Bar were acknowledged for their contribution to the industry, and Monique expressed her appreciation for Mr. Kehinde’s support in difficult times.

Laolu Akins, a seasoned producer, thanked City People for this award which he said is his second award from the media house. Mr. Kunle Ajomale dedicated his award to his wife who celebrated her birthday on that day and was in church. Grace Oladimeji, known as Eje Jesu, and London based D.J Richard Hamadi, known as Dj Mex, were recognized, each with a representative present.

The evening also featured performances by Merry Boy and an introduction to Mustafa Olarenwaju, the President of Onifaji. The event celebrated not only the musical talent but also the enduring spirit of  those who have contributed to the industry’s growth over the years. The awardees included some of the industry greats like:

Laolu Akins who was also honoured with the City People Living Legend of Music Award for his remarkable contributions to the growth of the Music Industry.

Alhaji Ayinla Kollington was also honoured with the City People Living Legend of Music Award  for his remarkable contributions to the growth of the Music Industry.

Sir Shina Peters was also honoured with the  City People Living Legend of Music Award for his remarkable contributions to the growth of the Music Industry.

City People Icon of Music Award  went to 9ice for his remarkable contributions to the growth of the Music Industry.

Yinka Davies was there also. She was honoured with City People Icon of Music Award for her remarkable contributions to the growth of the Music Industry.

Eje Jesu the Gospel Queen was honoured with City People Icon of Music Award  for her remarkable contributions to the growth of the Music Industry.

Righteousman was also honoured with the City People Icon of Music Award  for his remarkable contributions to the growth of the Music Industry.

Ruggedman was celebrated also. He clinched the City People Icon of Music Award for your remarkable contributions to the growth of the Music Industry.

Another music Icon Kunle Ajomale was honoured with the City People Icon of Music Award for his remarkable contributions to the growth of the Music Industry.

Segun Johnson was specially recognised for his remarkable contributions to the growth of the Music Industry.

Segun Oluwayomi was specially recognised for his remarkable contributions to the growth of the Music Industry.

Queen Madiva stole the show with her musical prowess. She was honoured with Special Recognition Award for her remarkable contributions to the growth of the Music Industry.

Monique came in white. She got a Special Recognition Award for her remarkable contributions to the growth of the Music Industry.

Wasiu Haruna Ishola sings Fuji. He won a Special Recognition Award for his remarkable contributions to the growth of the Music

King Ogeyemi Kameleon was also specially recognised with a Special Recognition Award for his remarkable contributions to the growth of the Music Industry.

The CEO of Aristos Band, Sammy Sodeke was also honoured. He was given a Special Recognition Award for your remarkable contributions to the growth of the Music Industry.

Halima Ayinla Omowura also shone at the Awards. She won a Special Recognition Award for her remarkable contributions to the growth of the Music Industry.

Ludare Olateju, the Juju maestro stormed the event. He won a Special Recognition Award for his remarkable contribution to the growth of the Music Industry.

Abideen Yusuf Olatunji also stood out and he won a Special Recognition Award for his remarkable contributions to the growth of the Music Industry.

London based Richard Amadi (DJ Meks) got a Special Recognition Award for his remarkable contributions to the growth of the Music Industry.

Sidewalk Lounge & Bar in VI, won a Special Recognition Award for its remarkable contributions to the growth of the Entertainment Industry.

Fuji star, Obesere was also one of the awardees. He was given City People Icon of Music Award  for his remarkable contributions to the growth of the Music Industry.
