Real estate is one of the most volatile and highly unpredictable sub-sectors of the Nigerian economy. The Real estate sector is also one of the most promising and profitable Investments opportunity open to Nigerians, especially in the last few years. The Year 2019 in Nigeria could be described as a good year for some property developers, property agents and other stakeholders who operate within the sub-sector of economy.
The year 2019 is also a bad year for some major players, owing to volatility of the sector. It was a year of redress, retrategising for those who determine to stay afloat in spite of the economic challenges. Many of these property players were observed to have adopted various mimics of selling their products. In order to sell more products In 2019, and also remain relevant, they had to cut down their prices. They also provide long-term and flexible payment plan to further woo subscribers to buy their products. While doing all these, some of them also signed on celebrities who could help them market their brands and products. They didn’t stop at that, many of them woo subscribers with foreign travels, or buy-one get-one free staunt. What about those real estate companies that tell you to pay a little amounts of money and you’ll get a cow, rice, goat and other gift items? Almost all of them do it. Those who also have enough money to spread around travel abroad to woo Nigerians there to buy property from them in Nigeria.
City People Magazine has gone round and done extensive survey on many companies and property players, especially those who have done well in their respective fields.
There are more than 300 properties companies/brands in Lagos, that are involved in one deal or the other, in the last few years.
Some players have revealed that since 2015, the real estate sector had been badly affected by the economy, but in spite of all these, some players in the industry are still flourishing.
In this report City People takes note of about 30 property players who have done quite well in the year 2019. Below are the names.
CHIEF BISI ONASANYA
He is the Former First Bank MD. Chief Onasanya set up The Address Homes, a reputation property development company. He did that immediately he left banking sector few years back. And presently, he is one of the most active property developers who has been erecting mega housing estates around Lagos. Talk of Lekki, Ikoyi, Victoria Island, he plays big In those highbrow areas. Have you been to Osapa London lately, he plays big in that area; he is one of the biggest property developers not just in that axis, but Lagos In general.
DR. KENNEDY OKONKWO
Dr Kennedy Okonkwo, the CEO of Nedcomoaks Homes needs little introduction when you talk about a renowned property developer, especially in the Lekki axis where he operates. For those who don’t know how big Dr. Kennedy plays in housing development, a quick tour of Orchid Road, around Eleganza but-stop, will convince anyone, where he has Crest Homes, on both sides of the road.
A few months back, Forbes Africa put him on their magazine cover, for being an outstanding property developer. In the interview he granted Forbes, he spoke about the many issues affecting real estate in Nigeria. Dr Kennedy is a big property developer who has built more than 1,000 housing units. He is one of the outstanding property developers in 2019.
OTUNBA OLUMIDE OSUNSINA
Otunba Olumide Osunsina is a big player who has done remarkably well in the real estate sector. He is the Managing Director of his Company, Megamound Development Company and currently selling homes at Lekki Country Estate. Otunba Olumide is the owner of Carlton Gate Estate in Lekki, Carlton Gate Estate Ibadan, Carlton Gate Estate in Abeokuta. He is also the developer of NICON Town Estate in Lekki. He is one of the biggest property developers in Lagos today, and in the last few months has done well. The company is visible everywhere, selling houses at a moderate prices.
CHIEF EMMANUEL OKAFOR
Chief Emmanuel Okafor is the MD/CEO of Marcopolo Properties in Lekki. Marcopolo is a sole property development company and it has been in existence for over 22 years. Chief Emmanuel is one of the pioneers of property development in the Lekki-Ajah axis. He is the major property developer In Lekki axis, who develops in large quantity. In 2019, he developed more that 5 housing estates in Lekki and Ikoyi axis of Lagos.
AARE OBA ADETOLA EMMANUELKING
Aare Adetola Emmanuelking is another top real estate player who has been playing big in the sector over the years. He is the Group Managing Director of Adron Homes & Properties. His property firm is all over Lagos. He is one of the top players who has taken the sector by storm. Almost every day, he starts up a new housing estate. Presently, he has about 40 offices in Lagos, and in the last few months sold many landed properties. His wife, Mrs Aderonke Emmanuelking, the Executive Director of Adron Homes & Properties, also plays a very important role.
In 2019, Aare Adetola emerged Lagos Man of the year award and he was also conferred many chieftaincy titles. He is one of the most visible and active property players in the year.
BABATUNDE GBADAMOSI
Babatunde Gbadamosi is the developer of Amen Estate Phase 1 & II. He also contested for the last Guber election in Lagos. Talk of a big estate where celebrities live in Lagos, Amen Estate would also be mentioned. Presently, houses are currently selling at Phase II of Amen Estate. Amen Estate is on Eleko road before Ibeju Lekki town. His wife, Mrs Sade Gbadamosi is the Financial Director of the company and they have both done well this year.
DR. BAMIDELE ONALAJA
Bamidele Onalaja is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Director of RevolutionPlus Property Development Company.
Dr. Bamidele is a top property player who has distinguished himself. In 2019, he extended his real estate arm to Ibadan where he now plays big with other players there. In Ofada Mowe, he is currently building a block of housing units. And he has also acquired more than 6 estates this year where they sell land and also develop. The company in few weeks back, signed Nollywood star actress, Omoni Oboli, to help further promote the company. They now have 3 brand ambassadors: Odunlade Adekola, Testimony Jaga and Omoni Oboli.
In 2019, RevolutionPlus acquired the biggest project of the company, Lekki Apartments & Terraces.
We can’t talk about Revolution Plus Property without mentioning Mrs Tolulope Onalaja, the Executive Director and the amiable wife of Dr. Bamidele Onalaja. They co-run the company and their combination has yielded positive results.
STANLEY OBI
Stanley Obi is the MD/CEO of Salescraft Properties. He won City People Real Estate youngest player of the year award at the 4th City People Real Estate Awards. Currently, he has extended his arm of the company to the Eastern part of the country and Salescraft has a presence in many parts of Lagos.
Few days ago, he thanked God that the year 2019 was a positive one for him.
SAMUEL ODINAMADU
Chief Samuel Odinamadu is also playing big. He’s the Chief Executive Officer of SKC Properties Ltd. He’s one of the leading property development players in Lekki, Lagos. He’s currently building housing units at Orchid Hotel road opposite Eleganza bus stop, Ikota, Lekki, Lagos. He is one of the property players who have done well so far this year.
MURPHY OSUALA
We cannot also forget Chief Murphy Osuala, the Managing Director of the popular Property Development company in Lagos, Empire Homes. He’s currently doing massive projects behind Chevron head office in Lekki, Lagos. He is also on Orchid road, Eleganza Bus-Stop. He also has another housing estate at Orchid Hotel road, opposite Eleganza house, Lekki. Chief Murphy has been in the real estate for decades and he is still waxing stronger by the day.
BASHIR JIMOH
Another person who has done well is Mr. Bashir Jimoh, Managing Director of Bashmoh Homes. Bashmoh homes has land that’s currently selling in and out of Lagos. Recently, they have acquired big Properties in Magboro and Ibadan. This property firm is one of the leading property companies when it comes to sales of land, as it has built plenty of trust in the minds of people.
This company in 2019 has also extended to Ibadan.
ADENIYI ADAMS
Adeniyi Adams is the MD/CEO of Knightstone Properties Limited. Knightstone is into land sales and housing development. It has just completed a couple of housing units in Ajah axis. Mr Adeniyi is a real estate guru who has travelled far and wide to deliver a lecture on real estate and other related topics. He’s well respected among his contemporaries. This year, he had been going from and place to another, giving speeches on the real estate topics.

Chief Ben Odunzeh is the MD/CEO of EUC Group, a pan African real estate firm. A few months back, the company signed popular actress, Juliet Ibrahim as a brand ambassador. Chief Ben is currently the biggest landowner in Ibeju Lekki, Lagos. He acquires land in large quantity and sells at affordable rates. He has also moved to the East recently where he’s equally doing well. He’s one of the leading property players this year who has been very active in the sector.
He was conferred with a chieftaincy title few months back by the paramount ruler of Ibejuland, as Babalaje.
CHIEF EMEKA UZOETO
Chief Emeka Uzoeto is the CEO/MD of 1st Homes Limited; a reputable construction company. Chief Emeka is undoubtedly one of the top property players in Lekki presently. He has built over 50 housing units this year alone. He has ongoing housing projects in Osapa London, Victory Park, Agungi, Chevron area, all in Lekki. He has become a strong developer in that axis.
ENGR. TOYIN ADEYINKA
Engr. Toyin Adeyinka is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Sparklight group. Currently, they have massive housing projects in Magboro which are selling at affordable rates. He is a man with over 30 years of experience in the real estate sector.
In 2019, they launched a remarkable housing project in Magboro.
OTUNBA YEMI LAWAL
We can’t also forget Otunba Yemi Lawal, MD/CEO of Seagle Properties. He’s equally doing well in Oniru axis of Victoria Island, Lagos. In Lekki-Ajah axis, precisely in Chevy-View estate, we also have another property guru who has been doing wonderful housing project in the last 5 years.
ISHMEAL UDENKA
He is Chief Ishmeal Emeka Udenka, Chairman of Lucky Gardens Estates. He is another top player in that industry. Another name in that industry that has been doing well over the time is the Chairman of DPKay Homes & Properties, Prince Dele Akinola. He has a lot of housing developed in Lekki axis, and he also has landed properties around Lagos currently selling at affordable prices.
AARE ADELEKE ADEBESIN
We can’t also forget Aare Adeleke Adebesin, Chairman of Kings International Homes & Properties. He is one of the big boys in the property sector.

What about the MD of Yankees Construction & Co., Mr David Ezeodo? He is a top property developer, in Osapa London, to be precise.
MRS BAMIDELE ELIZABETH
Mrs Bamidele Elizabeth of Godmade Homes is another top player in that sector. She, few months back commissioned a luxury mini estate in Parkview estate and has sold some of flats. Also, few weeks back, the company commissioned another remarkable project in the heart of Lekki, called Godmade connect which is currently selling. Mrs Bamidele is one of the few women has done remarkably well in the sector in 2019
HAKEEM OGUNNIRAN
Hakeem Ogunniran is the CEO of Eximia Realty Co Ltd. He set up this company a year ago, shortly he left his former post, UPDC. And he has continued in the real estate sector. In 2019, he was able to take his new company to people’s awareness and now ranked among the big companies in Lagos.
DR JAYNE ONWUMERE
She is the Group Managing Director of PWAN Group, a company with 12 subsidiaries. She floated PWAN Group 7 years ago to provide affordable homes to many Nigerians. Dr Jayne is one of the few women who have made huge impact in the sector and she’s has done quite well especially this year.
DR OLOLADE ABUTA
Dr Ololade Abuta is the CEO of Gracias Properties, a subsidiary of Gracias Group, she also heads.
Year 2019 would forever remains one of the best years for this energetic lady of substance. She won several awards and accolades this year to her name because of her performance in the sector.

Jeffrey Agbim is also doing well in the area of construction. He is the CEO of Jedmoon Properties.
Presently, Mr Jerry is one man whose effort In the sector can’t be denied. A quick drive to Lekki, beside Conservation centre, would convince you. He is the major developer on the axis. He has also done well In Osapa, Chevy View, and other places within Lekki.

Harrison Agboifoh is the Managing Director of Landmark Corporate Realty Limited, a reputation property company. In 2019, the company has launched several housing estates across Nigeria. The MD is one of those who have made huge impact in the sector this year.

Mr Adetoro Bank-Omotoye is another name who has distinguished himself in the built sector. He is the MD of Cruxstone Development & Investment ltd.
