On Tuesday 20th June, 2023, there was a World Press Conference held in Ijebu Ode at Awujale’s palace, to herald the 2023 Ojude Oba Festival. At that event it was revealed that Globacom is the Main Sponsor of the Festival.
Sola Mogaji, the Senior Manager Events & Sponsorship also revealed how happy the company is to play that vital role. “It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to this press conference announcing our participation again as main sponsor of the 2023 Ojude Oba Festival, he told the gathering. The theme of this year’s event, OJUDE OBA: A LESSON IN RELIGIOUS HARMONY, emphasises the place of religion and unity in the affairs of the nation. Globacom’s annual participation has been borne out of our commitment to identifying with the Culture and Tradition of Ijebuland as the company has been doing with similar festivals, including the Ofala Festival in Onitsha, Anambra State”.
Our collaboration with the Ojude Oba Planning Committee is geared towards celebrating the unique tradition of the Ijebu people and at the same time fostering the cause of tourism which Ojude Oba has promoted for more than 100 years. This festival which has gained global recognition, attracts tourists from other parts of Nigeria and the diaspora”.

“It is also our pleasure to contribute our quota to the further development of Ijebuland since the festival has become a rendezvous for all sons and daughters of the land to converge and recalibrate the cause of the growth of Ijebuland and its people, Our normal intervention in the Regberegbe competition still subsists as, the best dressed age grade in the male and female categories will win N500,000, while the first and second runners-up will grab N300,000 and N200,000 each. During the Balogun competition, the different horse-riding families who display dexterity and unusual skills on their horses will be rewarded with prizes, ranging from N300,000 for the first place and N200,000 and Nl00,000 for the first and second runners-up”.
Last year, Otunba Mike Adenuga, the Chairman of Globacom Limited also revealed how beginning from 2006, Glo had thrown its weight behind this epochal event. “At Globacom, we see our association with Ojude Oba as 16 whole years of well-deserved celebration of Cultural Excellence punctuated only by the lock down and social distancing measures necessitated by the global Covid-19 pandemic”, Adenuga explained.
“Our continued collaboration with the Ojude Oba Festival Committee as well as out sponsrship of other festivals in Nigeria is rooted in our passionate commitment to being in the forefront of major initiatives aimed at celebrating the best of Nigeria’s cultures and traditions with a view to conserving them for posterity. Globacom’s continuing support of the organisers of Ojude Oba Festival is anchored on the painstaking efforts they have made to celebrate our cultures and reinforce our values of integrity, hardwork, excellence and respect for others’ religious and ethnic biases with a view to ensuring that such cultures do not go into extinction.
The organising committee equally appreciates Globacoms support, which is huge.
It is also because having the support of Globacom is regarded as a major support. This is because of how big the company is.

As customary, various artistes were lined up to entertain at an international musical fiesta, which included the engagement of talented youths through musical concepts and to be complemented by Miss Ojude Oba Festival Pageant in the evening of Ojude Oba Day.
The Glo/Ojude Oba partnership in 2022 was in tandem with the socio-cultural and developmental philosophy of Kabiyesi, the Awujale to continue to empower his subjects, which led to the establishment and funding of the Ijebu Development Initiative on Poverty Reduction; an establishment which has been sustained amidst scores of unparalleled strides, over the last 20 years. Last year, a raffle draw was added to the bouquet of goodies and 10 lucky winners went home with brand new Tricycles, Television sets, Pepper Grinding Machines, garden Tent Umbrellas, among other valuable prizes.
