Gives Account Of Stewardship
In a manner befitting of a scholar, a revered Monarch in Ogun State, HRM Oba (Prof.) Saka Adelola Matemilola, Oluyalo Otileta VII, the Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Abeokuta, has given detailed account of his stewardship on the throne as he marks his one year coronation anniversary.
Speaking at a press conference which took place at his palace in Owu, on Thursday, 3rd August, 2023, the highly cerebral Monarch spoke glowingly on the giant strides he had taken in bettering the lives of his subjects in the areas of education, healthcare, skills acquisition and economic empowerment, community development and social well-being, as well as alternative dispute resolution.
During the press conference which was part of the three day activities to mark his first year anniversary, the Professor of Applied Mathematics gave details of how his Olowu Scholars Foundation, Solace Foundation and The Owu Community Library had all helped in advancing the educational pursuit of the people of Owu and its environ, significantly, in the last one year.
He also made mention of how his Solace Foundation had been instrumental to skills acquisition and economic empowerment of the people. In terms of community development and social well-being, the Oba made it known that he had been effectively involved in ensuring that boreholes were drilled across all the communities in Owu for people to have access to potable water, provision of food items for indigent ones and waging war against drug abuse amongst the people of his Kingdom.
And in terms of alternative dispute resolution, Oba Matemilola stated that, they were already discussing with the Ogun State Juduciary and The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), to provide formal training on Alternative Dispute Resolution methods in other to set up a fully functional and staffed dispute resolution unit in the palace.
The 14th Olowu did not end his address without recognising the contributions of former President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo, who is the Balogun of Owu, to the successes his reign had recorded in the last one year. And the press conference which was put together for Olowu by Hon. Chief Johnson Olufatoki as the chairman of the organising committeem later collapsed into Health Talk to the people in attendance which was part of the activities for the ceremony and was anchored by Mrs. Bola Obasanjo.
