Sponsors 50% Treatment in all PHCs in Bariga
If you go to Bariga Local Council right now, the one thing the people talk about everyday is the mother of all palliatives that the very resourceful and dependable Chairman of Bariga Local Council, Hon. Alabi Kolade David surprised the residents with two weeks ago.
Nobody saw this coming. It has never happened before in Bariga LCDA. Indeed, if truth be told, it has not happened anywhere yet. No council chairman within Lagos state or outside if it has offered what the charming and extremely focused administrator gave the good people of Bariga. Many were stunned when the tested and trusted Alabi rolled out 5000 Food Packs to the residents of Bariga, in order to cushion the effect occasioned by the removal of Fuel Subsidy.
As at 6:30am, the venue was filled to the brim, the residents came out in their numbers, having gotten their Food Vouchers, via their community representatives.
The proactive Chairman, beefed up the security around the distribution ground, to forestall any possible break down of law and order and to avert any form of stampede.
Addressing the mammoth crowd, Hon. Alabi said, ” This is our way of identifying with you at this trying time, and to rekindle your hope in the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his quest to resurrect our dead economy. He has promised that this exercise will be done periodically.
The food items doled out include Rice, Semovita, Beans, Garri, among others that could sustain a family for a number of days. The aged amongst the beneficiaries had to seek for assistance to help them move their food pack through the congested arena.
The exercise, which was targeted at the poorest of the poor in Bariga, the widows, elderly and the vulnrable within the locality, certainly surpassed the expectations of everyone. But the most beautiful part of it all was that Hon. Alabi himself had ensured that the food packs got to the poorest of the poor in the community. He also put the necessary security in place to ensure the palliatives were not diverted elsewhere. This really earned him the respect and admiration of his people.
The distribution was well managed and coordinated by the Adhoc Committee, headed by the amiable Vice Chairman. Hon. Zainot Kuponiyi. The exercise was devoid of any form of chaos or violence. The distribution cuts across all strata in Bariga, CDC, CDA, Artisans, Muslim Community, CAN, Non-indigenes, without political segmentations.
To alleviate the suffering of commuters in Bariga, caused by the recent hike in transport fares, Hon. Alabi launched the 14 Passenger Hiace Buses tagged: *BARIGA PALLIATIVE TRANSPORT SERVICES. The buses which which will operate from Ladylak to Palm Grove, Apelehin to Bariga Roundabout, Bariga Roundabout to Onipanu, have since commenced operations.
In order to follow global best practices, the buses are well equipped with the modern day Card Detector Machine, the replica of LAMATA BRT buses, whereby the prospective passengers will be using their Cowrie Card to access the buses to their various destination.
The cowrie card will be sold at the boarding points by the vendors of Cowrie Card Company.
The high point of the day was when Hon. Alabi declared 50% discount in all Bariga Local Council Health Facilities, because he firmly believes Health is Wealth.
It’s is worthy to note that the event was epochal in nature, as the indigents of Bariga, both male and female smiled home with their food packs and knowing full well they can access 50% health treatment in all Bariga PHCs, while they can also get to their various destination with the 50% discounted Bariga Palliative Transport Services Bus.
The people of Bariga are now looking forward to another round of palliatives. They are more than grateful for the incredible surprise their amiable chairman gave to them two weeks ago.
