Just In: Again, Lagos Lawmakers resume in court over Obasa’s removal

by Nife Kazeem

Lawmakers of the Lagos State House of Assembly have once again appeared before the High Court over the case involving reinstated Speaker, Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, who was removed from office by a majority of the legislators in February 2025.

At the last hearing on Friday, March 7, Justice Yetunde Pinheiro of the Ikeja High Court adjourned the case to today, March 10, directing all parties to file and serve their legal processes ahead of the next proceedings.

The 36 lawmakers backing the impeachment maintain that Obasa’s removal was constitutional, standing by their counterclaims against his reinstatement.

Obasa, who was impeached on January 13, 2025, is challenging his ouster in court, arguing that it was unlawful. He was removed over allegations of fraud, high-handedness, abuse of office, and gross misconduct.
