The ancient kingdom of Odosenlu-Alaro in Ijebu North-East Local Government Area of Ogun State is preparing to celebrate one of its illustrious sons, Dr. Taiwo O. Olubanwo, who has been conferred with the prestigious title of Otunba Atunluse of Odosenlu-Alaro. His wife, Chief Oluwakemi A. Olubanwo, was also honoured with the title of Yeye Atunluse of Odosenlu-Alaro.
The conferment, which was officially announced on August 20th, 2025, by His Royal Majesty, Oba Adedotun O. Odusanya, the Osijiya II and Olu of Odosenlu-Alaro Kingdom, is seen as a recognition of the couple’s long-standing contributions to human and community development both at home and abroad.
In his acceptance letter, Dr. Olubanwo, who is the Chairman/CEO of BanwOil Petroleum Limited, Unicemed Consortium Inc., Zenith City Hotel & Zenith City Motors just to mention a few, described the honour not merely as a personal achievement, but as a shared victory for all who dream of a better tomorrow.
“This honour is a reflection and acknowledgement of the work we have previously embarked upon, and more importantly, it is a call to do even more for the advancement of our people through community engagement, development, upliftment of the marginalised, and provision of opportunities where they were once scarce,” he wrote.
For Dr. Olubanwo, the chieftaincy title represents a fresh mandate to continue bridging gaps and building a society where no one is left behind. He emphasised that every child who gains access to education, every woman who is economically empowered, and every young person who finds hope for a brighter future are the true reasons behind his daily sense of purpose and passion.
Though based in Canada, Dr. Olubanwo has remained deeply connected to his roots in Ogun State. His professional and philanthropic engagements reflect a blend of global exposure and community commitment, making him a model of what it means to give back to society.
His wife, Chief Oluwakemi Adunni Olubanwo, who now holds the title of Yeye Atunluse, shares in this legacy of service. Together, they have demonstrated a commitment to building lives, empowering families, and contributing to the growth of communities in both Nigeria and the diaspora.
The title “Atunluse” literally translates to “one who rebuilds or develops a community,” a fitting reflection of Dr. Olubanwo’s vision for a more equitable society. He has pledged to use this new role as a platform to further his mission of progress, peace, and prosperity—values he hopes will echo across generations.
“We will continue to build a legacy of progress, peace, and prosperity that will echo through generations. Together, we can transform challenges into opportunities and ensure that no one is left behind in the pursuit of a better, more equitable society,” he said.
As the Odosenlu-Alaro Kingdom prepares to formally celebrate the conferment, there is a sense of pride among the people that their son, despite his global standing, remains rooted in service to his community.
The honour bestowed upon Dr. Taiwo and Chief (Mrs.) Oluwakemi Olubanwo is more than a title—it is a reaffirmation of a journey dedicated to uplifting lives and shaping a future where tradition and progress walk hand in hand.
