by City People

The Rotary Club of Adeniyi Jones has continued to show its deep commitment to education and community development by carrying out its Basic Education and Literacy Month Project, tagged Back to School. The event, which took place today, Friday, September 19, 2025, at Adeniyi Jones Primary School, Ikeja, Lagos, brought smiles and relief to pupils and parents as children received vital school supplies to support their return to school.

Although the club is only a few years old, it has quickly established itself as a vibrant Rotary family, taking on impactful projects that touch lives within its community. With education standing as one of Rotary International’s key areas of focus, the Adeniyi Jones club prioritized creating opportunities for children to access essential learning tools and resources.

Through the Back to School program, pupils were given educational materials such as school bags, books, writing tools, and other supplies to help them resume the new academic session prepared and motivated. The project not only eased the financial burden on parents but also inspired the children to embrace learning with confidence.

Speaking on the importance of the project, the club emphasized that literacy and basic education remain the foundation of sustainable development in any community. “Education is the greatest gift we can give to our children. By equipping them with knowledge and skills, we are investing in the future of our society. This Back to School project is our way of saying no child should be left behind,” the club stated.

Parents and teachers of Adeniyi Jones Primary School expressed their excitement and gratitude to the Rotary Club for choosing their school as the focal point of this year’s project. The initiative reached hundreds of pupils, creating joy and giving them a sense of belonging as they walked into their classrooms fully equipped.

The event featured not only the distribution of materials but also motivational talks and words of encouragement for both pupils and parents, serving as a reminder that education is the key to unlocking opportunities.

Though still young, the Rotary Club of Adeniyi Jones is already setting the tone for years of compassion, service, and lasting impact. The Back to School initiative marks just the beginning of many more efforts aimed at uplifting the community and advancing Rotary’s global mission of service above self.
