Olubadan is new chairman, Oyo State Traditional Council

The dust over the rotational chairmanship of Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs has been settled by the Oyo State Government. The State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde, disclosed this at about 4.08 pm on Thursday that the rotational chairmanship of the State Council of Obas and Chiefs, which would rotate among Olubadan, Soun Ogbomoso and Alaafin Oyo would start with Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja. The rotational system is for two, two years.

 

 

At a well-attended meeting of the state monarchs to inaugurate the State Council of Obas and Chiefs at the Western House of Chiefs, Gov Makinde said:  “After consultation with Their Imperial Majesties, it was decided that the rotational system with Olubadan as the chair should begin. On the basis of this, the Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs has been inaugurated with Olubadan as the council Chair.

 

 

Surrounded by Soun Ogbomoso, Eleruwa Eruwa, Aseyin, Iseyin, Okere Saki and several other monarchs from different parts of the state, Oba Ladoja expressed gratitude to the State Governor for reconstituting the State Traditional Council. The Olubadan also thanked his colleagues for their unity and solidarity.

 

Fielding questions from reporters at the end of the meeting, the Olubadan stated that the focus of the Oyo State Traditional Council would be the pursuit of peace, security, safety, and progress in our various domains.
