Without question, one of the largest and fastest growing churches in the country today is the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministry. When this very different ministry with a totally strange way of praying came into people’s consciousness well over 30 years ago, many wondered then if the church’s unusual ways and doctrines would stand the test of time. And today, 35 years after, the church has experienced phenomenal growth, one that has left many of its critics absolutely puzzled. MFM now has such a huge following that it’s almost impossible to not find at least 4 out of every 10 church going Christians who are not MFM members. This is a clear testament of the resilience and doggedness of the founder, the very humble, tenacious and highly spiritual Dr. Daniel Olukoya. He and his beautiful and equally tenacious wife, Shade Olukoya, and top hierarchy of the church, have done a fantastic job building the ministry from the very scratch to the phenomenal height it has attained today. And though Dr. Olukoya, modest as ever, has insisted that he did nothing to build the church, that God built the church Himself, everyone that started with him 35 years ago can testify to the incredible work he put into the growth and success of MFM.
Dr. Olukoya truly didn’t build MFM all by himself, he was fortunate to have around him at the time he was starting the ministry, some men of integrity who were willing to offer him their utmost loyalty and dedication. Many of them have become prominent members of the ministry who occupy high ranking positions. One of such dedicated men of God who started the ministry with Dr. Olukoya over 35 years is Pastor Joshua Kayin, the head Pastor in charge of MFM Victory Center, Alagbole Region. He is one of MFM’s most committed and most loyal pastors. He is widely regarded as a very disciplined, focused and principled man of God. He has been in charge of MFM Alagbalo Region for close to a decade and under his watch, no single scandal has tainted that Region. He has done a fantastic job turning job turning that Region around since he took charge almost a decade ago.
Not many knew that Dr. Olukoya and Pastor Kayin have had a very special relationship and are indeed very close. Not many knew that their relationship dates back a couple of decades ago until Dr. Olukoya revealed this fact. Pastor Kayin himself rarely spoke or boasted about his very special relationship with the General Overseer. The quiet and extremely spiritual man of God is one who is not given to dropping the name of Dr. Olukoya in his conversations and dealings with people. He prefers to stay within his small space, without any noise, simply focused only on doing God’s work. That is where he finds his fulfilment. Despite the impressive growth of the Alagbole Region under his watch, Pastor Kayin remains humble about hios modest achievement. Today, the Alagbole Region is widely regqarded as one of the biggest and fastest growing regions in the ministry. Pastor Kayin has remained grounded and only focused on delivering more and more souls for Christ.
Penultimate Saturday, January 10, 2026, the General Overseer visited Alagbole Region and as would be expected, it was a big celebration. It was at the programme, during his speech, that Dr. Olukoya made shocking revelations about his relationship with Pastor Kayin.
The man of God began by saying; “Just in case you don’t know, Pastor Kayin, to us, is more than a pastor. We knew each other many years ago, he was my mechanic at that time. Then, from that place, he became my driver. Whenever we had crusades at Ibadan, Ilorin, Akure, Ondo, Benin, he drives. Then, his workshop was close to the present headquarters. Your pastor, Kayin, was the one who discovered where headquarters is now. He was the one who discovered the land and brought it to my attention. So, he’s more than a pastor to MFM. He is part of the history of Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries. Pastor Kayin, God bless you and your family, thank you for keeping the fire burning. His workshop in those days is one Elijah auditorium at the headquarters.
