Anambra Navy plans medical rhapsody for host communities

The Naval Outpost in  Onitsha, Anambra state said it would hold a two-day general health awareness outreach for communities in the area to promote healthy living.

Navy Capt. Mohammed Dahiru, Commander of the Outpost,  disclosed this  in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), in Onitsha on Friday.

He said that the programme scheduled to hold between May 5 and May 6, would feature general health awareness talks, eye test and provision of drugs to people living along the banks of the River in Onitsha.

He said that free treated mosquito nets and lenses would also be distributed to beneficiaries of the outreach.

“This is in appreciation of their support, cooperation as well as to cement the existing civil- military relationship with the people over the years,’’ Dahiru said.

According to him, some doctors, nurses and laboratory technicians have been engaged for the  programme.

Dahiru said that the outpost had concluded arrangement with benefiting community leaders to provide venues and sensitise the people for a large turnout.

The commander urged  the communities to avail themselves of the opportunity by turning out en mass for the programme.
