33 days after they were abducted, 110 students of Government Girls Science and Technical College (GGSTC), Dapchi, located in Bulabulin, Yunusari Local Government area of Yobe State, were Wednesday morning returned.

However, it was gathered that out of the 110 students returned, five were dead already.

Speaking on the condition of anonymity, a senior army officer currently serving in the Sambisa forest said all the girls were returned alive except five.

He said: “Boko Haram has reportedly returned all kidnapped Dapchi girls back to Dapchi township in Yobe. Unfortunately, five of them are dead.”

On February 19, 2018, at about 5:30pm, the 110 schoolgirls aged between 11 and 19 years old were kidnapped by the Boko Haram terrorist group from the school in Dapchi, Yobe State, North-east Nigeria.

The Presidency on Wednesday confirmed the release of the girls.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, confirmed this in Abuja.
