On The Set Of JAGUN JAGUN

What She Told City People
She is one of the best actresses in the movie industry today. She is brilliant. She is very talented and she is good at what she does. She was one of those who acted in Jagun Jagun, Femi Adebayo-Salami’s new movie which is currently trending on Netflix.
Recently, City People got her to reveal her experience on the set of Jagun Jagun. How did she prepare for her role in Jagun Jagun? And how did she actualise her role. “When I got the script. I realised that apart from my normal role, I had a character to prepare for which was not going to be revealed until later. I saw that as challenging. I booked an appointment with the Gym and it was hard for me to meet up with the appointment because of my little girl. Eventually, I spent most of the time I was supposed to spend in the Gym, I spent at home, doing things I was supposed to be doing like building my body up, I built some hamazing muscles. I posted it then on my Instagram. I was just trying to work on my legs, my arms, because those are the major things you will need as a warrior. I did the body work and workout for a couple of weeks before I resumed on set to join them. We were meant to have practiced before the main shooting of the film, but I felt like I might be a little bit behind time because I was travelling down. It was an amazing experience for me. Actualising it, it was little bit dramatic & fun though.
The 1st time, I wore the costome of Agemo I first slipped, I fell because the costume was quite heavy on the 1st day of practice I got half of the steps I was supposed to take as Agemo. Half of fighting tips and stunts I was supposed to do. On the 1st day of rehersals I got it. The head of the costume was made with animal skin so it was a bit tight around the head area and we needed to cover the whole body up. And the area where my eyes was supposed to show was a little bit shaky.
So, the 1st day was a little bit quite challenging. The person who was training us on all the stunts had to wear the costume and do the stunts for me to see. From there was able to get into it and do what I needed to do. It was amazing. It was lovely. I had a great time learning new things I have never learnt before which is all these fighting, bla, bla, bla. It was quite an experience I won’t forget. That was how I was able to actualise it. It was an amazing time on set. And I am happy everybody loved it”.
What was her experience like on set? Genrally, when I got on set, and I saw the number of the people on set, the people we are filming with, the costume, the pops, the effects, I knew something big in coming to Nollywood. Everybody came with their A Game, even if you were playing a scene, everybody took everything very serious like they are shooting their last shot, as an actor. It was amazing.”
“For some reason, I feel Nollywood is going to take a new turn. And that we are going to make the world proud very soon. I am so positive about that, and I am happy, that this is happening in our time. Its a great priviledge for us and we are excited that a whole lot of people are appreciating the work”.
“My experience generally was amazing, and it was fun. Apart from the fact that we were working as Actors, we were working as a family. We were working as a family. We were like the same group of people who were trying to achieve the same goals, for the main purpose of making a change and creating something that a l ot of people are going to be proud of. It was an amazing experience generally. And I had a great time.”
The producer of the movie, Femi Adebayo was so impressed at her performance and he couldn’t hide his impressions of Bukunmi. “Bukunmi took on the Jagun Jagun script like it was her own, flying in from the UK with prior commitments just to be part of it. The story captivated her from the first read, leading her to dedicate 2 whole months to bringing it to life.”
“On set, her passion and drive moved the entire production crew, becoming a beacon of motivation even when faced with challenges. She exceeded all expectations, shining brightly in the role carved out for her. And I must say, she blew us away. Her energy became the fuel that ignited our own, and we couldn’t be more grateful for her brilliance”.
She acted Iroyin Ogunkitan. Bukunmi herself revealed how she got the role. “A year ago, a call came in. Guess who? It was FM. He said, “We are working on something Bigger than Ageshinkole. And there is a particular role. You are the only one I’m seeing in it. I laughed. Do you know why? Not even because coincidentally, at that point, I was actually alone, inside A cinema, where I privately booked to watch Ageshinkole, without disturbance because of it reviews Online. I laughed because, in my head, I was like what could be bigger than this movie, I’m currently watching. Anyway. Everyone has the right to haype their movies.”
Months after, I got a text. “You would be spending like a month on set. And you would have to come a month earlier, because of practice. I was going to laugh again. But this time, Sad; because I wasn’t in the country and had another huge commitment.”
After telling him that, he said if its bills, we got you covered. He sent the script, which I almost burnt down the house while reading, because I got carried away with it, forgetting my food on the fire. Goosebumps, the suspense from the beginning to the end. Ahh!
there, I knew, even if they decide to go shoot the movie under the ground or in the moon, mo ma wa. Production process was a roller coaster of overwhelming challenges and emotions. Seeing equipments and more than a thousand people on set…Obviously, man was not joking after all.”
“All cast and crew came with their A game. For the very first time, I saw @adedimejilateef switched (when an actor’s acting becomes their reality) while acting on set. Unknown to us, that while we were busy acting on set, 80% of the people watching us behind camera, including daddy@adebayo salami were practically crying.”
Guys, yes. @femiadebayosalami indeed made something bigger than Ageshinkole. Its called….Jagun Jagun: A Netflix original movie. The type you haven’t experienced in the history of Nollywood.”
Ranks Africa in its June 2023 described Bukunmi Oluwasina as a talented actress who has captivated audiences worldwide with her impeccable acting skills and undeniable talent.
It describes her as one of the silent talents the Nigeria movie industry is blessed with. She was described as one of the most sough after, and actress who is versatile known for her impressive range and ability to portray diverse characters with depth and authenticity.
Last May, she shaved her hair to be able to act a role. She had to go on a specific diet and let go of her long beautiful pretty hair, to live, breathe and become this character. “And in my 10 years as an actor, I can categorically tell you, this is the most challenging and breathe taking role I have ever played. And I’m glad I was able to wear it like a dress.” She is a very profound actress.
What keeps her going, she explains that the top of one mountain is the bottom of the next for me….So, I keep climbing.”
