Emma OGOSI is an Entertainment Entrepreneur schooled in Germany and currently based in Asaba, Delta state. Yesterday, August 14, 2017, the veteran musician, talent scout and producer celebrated 75 years of existence on mother earth and we sure know he is worthy of celebration.
Emma Ogosi, born 75 years ago learnt to play the guitar privately while studying Aircraft Engineering at a German Air Force Academy, 1963 -1966. He played with several pop groups both in Germany & here in Nigeria. Groups like WATER BABIES, THE REASONS, THE EXPENSIVES, POGO LTD, COSMIC 3 etc. … The Expensives perfomed at IBB’s wedding to late Lady Maryam in Sept 1969. Emma was a pioneer music producer with Midwest Television, now NTA Benin. At NTA Benin, he helped nurture artistes like Chris Okotie, Amas Gril, Felix Lebarty amongst several others. Emma recorded his first solo album in 1981. He became the Secretary-General of PMAN in 1982. He discovered & nurtured Evi-Edna Ogholi to stardom. She is still called Africa’s Queen of Reggae! Emma is builder, pioneer: Pioneer Nigeria Airforce officer; pioneer music producer at NTA Benin & pioneer member of PMAN. He staged a come-back last year with the song OSINANGA and it was well received majorly in Asaba where he is based currently. Emma Ogosi would be celebrating 5 decades in the music industry come January 2018.

For anyone born in the 80s or early 90s, Ogholi’s song presents a moment of nostalgia. ‘Happy birthday’ was played at kids’ parties back in the day.
“Uh yea, I wish you happy birthday,
Uh yea, very very many happy returns”, the reggae singer belts out.
Once you heard this, you knew it was time to cut the cake. The celebration themed song was released in 1988 under premier Music.
Evi-Edna was discovered by former music and TV producer Emma Ogosi. Her reggae rhythms were played across Nigeria in the late 80s and early 90s. The vocalist also played the guitar. This talent earned her the nickname ‘Njoku reggae’from fans.
In 1987 she released her debut album titled “My Kind of Music”. Some of her other singles include ‘Jealousy’, ‘Ririovara’ and ‘Look before you cross’.
