Nigeria’s most consistent Chess tournament was held on Saturday April 1 at Jobady Hotel, Maryland.
It had 40 players in attendance competing for prizes in Open, Ladies and Under Fourteen categories.
After 6 rounds of hostilities, there was a clear winner in the person of Rotimi Lapite who scored 5.5 points.
Second and third was a tie between Udeme Edet and Charis Nnadi at 5 points each. Fourth and fifth was a tie between Edidiong Okpongete and Karebo Okuboarere. Sixth and seventh was a seven way tie between Oluwole Oladele, Bankole Sawyerr, Oladayo Adebayo, God’stime Clement, Oladimeji Omotola, Kennedy Onokpite and Femi Oluwaseyitan.
There were only two prizes for Ladies and it was a two way tie between Cynthia Madu and Obiamaka Agbazue.
The gold medal for Under Fourteen went to Li Mo. The silver medal went to David Ibekwe and the bronze to Adekunle Emilola.
