•Celebrates Chieftaincy Title As Akogun
Popular Lagos based businessman, Chief Oluwaseyi Falana and his siblings, on Saturday, 1st February, 2025, held a classy final burial ceremony in honor their late father, High Chief Ajewole Falana, the Akogun Egbele/Egbede Group of Chiefs of Akure Kingdom, who passed away at the age of 88 years on 1st February, 2024.
The party was a 2-in-1 affair as it also marked the celebration of Oluwaseyi’s chieftaincy tittle as the new Akogun Egbele/Egbede Group of Chiefs, Akure, and his wife, Chief (Mrs.) Adetoun Falana as Yeye Akogun Egbele/Egbede Group of Chiefs, Akure.
Activities for the colourful ceremony in Akure, the capital of Ondo State, included a thanksgiving service, visit to deceased’s cemetery and placement of flowers on his tomb then the reception.
The thanksgiving service, held at Church of Healing Cross, Orita Obele Estate, Akure, was coordinated by Baba’s church, Emmanuel Anglican Church, Ikota. While guests were hosted to an exclusive reception at Julie-Jane Event Centre, FUTA Junction, Oyemekun Road, Akure. It was indeed celebration of a life well spent of High Chief Ajewole Falana, and testament of his enduring legacy and a strong family bond.
The Falanas didn’t leave any stone unturned in making the whole ceremony a glamorous one. The reception was well planned. Everything including different cuisines, drinks, fingers foods and more were made available abundantly for enjoyment of all guests during main reception and the after party. It was fun-filled althrough. Mr. Dapsing (Dapo Adenrele) and his Venus Band were on bandstand. MC Goldenstar conducted affairs of the party, while DJ Bankz took charge of the after party and made guests partied hard till the late night. Olashile Elemuoguro supplied Palm Wine at the party. Mike Tee Concept provided cow meat barbecue (a whole cow was used for that purpose). The event was packaged and executed by Nix Party.

HIGH CHIEF AJEWOLE FALANA’S LIFE & TIME
Baba-Suru, as late High Chief Ajewole Falana was popularly known in his lifetime, indeed came to world, saw, and conquered. Though he’s an indigene of Akure but was born and raised in Ikota, where his father relocated to farm. He was born on 30th September, 1936 to the family of late Chief Michael and Mrs. Omoyajowo Falana. Baba lived a fulfilled life worthy of emulation. Testimonies abound of his positive impacts and contributions to the development of church of God and his immediate environment. This was also emphasized during the thanksgiving service by the Reverend Cannon E.A. Adeyoju, the Vicar in Charge of Emmanuel Anglican Church, Ikota. In his sermon, Reverend Adeyoju, who spoke about vanity of life and importance of living an impactful life, enjoined Baba’s children to remain united and endeavor to carry on with their father’s legacy in private life and also in the house of God.
Apart from that, Baba was also highly intelligent and resourceful and hard working. That explains his successes in life despite the fact that he had no formal education. He self-taught himself and could read and write. He was a successful transporter and a prominent member of Osogbo and Akure branches of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW). Due to the nature of his profession, Baba, at different times, lived and worked in Ilesa, Ibadan, Osogbo and later Akure before he finally retired back to Ikota where he breathed his last.
THE CHILDREN
The fact that High Chief Ajewole Falana lived a fulfilled life couldn’t be overemphasized. He was successful in all ramifications. He was a devoted Christian, a community leader and a family man to the core. These could be seen in his children and the grandchildren. His children, as well as their spouses, are all successful in their various chosen careers. The eldest is Pastor Mrs. Oluwayemisi Oyenekan. Her husband, Barr. Adebola Oyenekan is a seasoned legal practitioner. Next is Mrs. Yetunde Atanda. She is an educationist and Vice Principal of a secondary school in Osogbo. She is also into events decoration and planning. Meanwhile her husband, Mr. Taiwo Atanda is a property expert. Then we have Dr. Bukola Oguntola, a Lab Technician at LAUTECH Hospital. Her husband, Dr. Wale Oguntola is also a seasoned medical practitioner at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan. The small daddy of Falana family, however, is High Chief Oluwaseyi Falana, the MD/CEO Fortunate Tee Pee Nigeria Limited and Akogun Egbele/Egbede Group of Chiefs of Akure Kingdom. While his wife, High Chief (Mrs.) Adetoun Falana is into Beauty, Cosmetic & Personal Cares. She also into events planning and restaurant business.
AKOGUN OLUWASEYI FALANA AS AN EXCELLENT HOST & FASHIONISTA
Give it to High Chief Oluwaseyi Falana, he really demonstrated his prowess of being a good host at the party. He didn’t leave the welfare of his guests to event planner and the laid out plans alone. He was moving from table to table in making sure all his guests were well catered for. Also notable was Akogun’s fashion sense. He really killed the show with his Aso-Oke native as well as subsequent two other native attires he changed to at the party. His wife, the Yeye Akogun was also the cynosure of all eyes at the party. She looked fabulously gorgeous in all the attires and other accessories, especially her crown which symbolizes her position as Yeye Akogun Egbele/Egbede Group of Chiefs of Akure.
BETWEEN AKOGUN & HIS FRIENDS
Friends of Akogun Oluwaseyi Falana both home and abroad really stood by their person althrough his father’s final burial ceremony and celebration of his chieftaincy tittle. They all supported him in their own different ways. While some couldn’t make it to the party but still reached out, others honored him and his wife with their presence and resources.
THE ROYAL PRESENCE
Though the Deji and paramount ruler of Akure Kingdom, Oba (Dr) Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, CFR, Odundun II wasn’t at the party physically but was ably represented with his staff of office. Chief Omolarin stood in for the monarch, and played the role excellently well. This is coupled with the mega presence of Egbele/Egbede Group of Chiefs of Akure. They all rallied round their Akogun on the special occasion.
ABOUT PERFORMANCE OF THE PALACE HUNTERS
Apart from the sumptuous meals and choice drinks, the party also witnessed all kinds of interesting side attractions including the cultural display by the hunters from Deji’s palace. They really performed to the amazement of some guests who couldn’t but sprayed them money. Of course, the cultural display wasn’t expected. It’s a traditional way of paying homage to Akogun and Yeye Akogun Egbele/Egbede as high ranking Chiefs of Akure Kingdom.
WITH LOVE FROM RCCG FAITH CITY PARISH
“A good deed is never lost; he who sows courtesy reaps friendship, and he who plants kindness gathers love.” The above quote succinctly described the scenario that played out at the Falanas’ party in Akure. People came from far and near, not minding the stress and the distance, to honour them. And one of those in this category were Pastor and members of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Faith City Parish. They were there with full force, and in good numbers too.
HOW MERRY MEN OF LAGOS DAZZLED AT THE PARTY
There were many groups and associations at the party but distinctly outstanding of them all were members of Merry Men Club of Lagos. It was indeed a great and colourful outing for them. They really supported their friend, Akogun Oluwaseyi Falana and his beautiful wife. Even the President of the association who couldn’t make it to the occasion called in from abroad as they were serenaded by the musician of the day, Dapsing.
DAYO BAMJOKO, A FRIEND INDEED
The Falanas and Bamjokos are family friends. They’ve come a long way. So it wasn’t surprising to see Mrs. Dayo Banjoko standing by her friend, High Chief (Mrs.) Falana. Mrs. Banjoko didn’t only monitor the welfare of guests but also coordinated the distribution of souvenirs at the party. Mrs. Dayo Bamjoko was at the party with her husband, Prince A.O.B Bamjoko.
IT WAS SOUVENIRS GALORE
Akogun Oluwaseyi Falana and his sisters really succeeded in making their father’s final burial in Akure a memorable one. Apart from the fact that all quests were graciously taken care of, the party was also flooded with all kinds souvenirs with photos of their late father, and that of Chief Oluwaseyi Falana as he celebrates his chieftaincy tittle.
BIG KUDOS TO FORTUNATE TEE PEE STAFF
The members of staff of High Chief Oluwaseyi Falana’s company, Fortunate TEE PEE Nigeria Limited really did a wonderful job in terms of arrangement and coordination at the party. They put in the best efforts in supporting their boss, and made sure everything went well as planned.
