The Chairman of The Island Club, Omo’ba Dr. Rotimi Olasode Martins, KCOP; the Board of Trustees; Management; and the entire membership of The Island Club announce with deep regret the passing of Chief (Sir) Olumuyiwa Michael Falomo, SCOP, Registered Trustee and Past Chairman of the Club.
Chief Falomo passed peacefully on Saturday, 31 January 2025, at the age of 87.
An institution in his own right, he rendered decades of exceptional service to The Island Club, serving with distinction as Past Chairman, Past Vice Chairman, Past Honorary General Secretary, and Registered Trustee. Even after leaving office, he remained a revered elder statesman—an invaluable counsellor, moral compass, and custodian of the Club’s enduring values.
A consummate gentleman, master wordsmith, and deep philosophical thinker, Chief Falomo’s intellect, eloquence, and unwavering commitment to excellence left a lasting imprint on the traditions and governance of The Island Club.
Beyond the Club, the late Loofosan of Ifosan, Ilesa, was an illustrious son of Ijesaland and a towering figure in Nigeria’s corporate and creative landscape. A renowned advertising icon, he served as Chairman of Reckitt Benckiser and was Principal Consultant of Olu Falomo & Associates, where he mentored generations and helped shape industry standards.
The Island Club extends its heartfelt condolences to his family, the people of Ijesaland, the corporate community, and all whose lives he touched through his grace, intellect, and exemplary leadership.
May his soul rest in perfect peace.
Further information regarding funeral arrangements will be communicated in due course.
