Oba Adedokun Abolarin, the revered Oba of Oke Ila Oragun, is making a real difference in Nigeria through his school, Abolarin College. Founded in 2014, this institution started with just 35 students and has since expanded to 135, providing free education to underprivileged children from various states, including Plateau, Akwa Ibom, Kwara, Borno, Cross River, Ebonyi and others.
During a recent visit by the City People Magazine team led by the publisher, Oba Abolarin revealed some of the school’s remarkable feats, with several graduates successfully enrolled in universities. Notably, 51 students are fully sponsored, including 21 who received full scholarships to the prestigious Adeleke University, sponsored by Sir Adedeji Adeleke.
Abolarin College serves as a sanctuary for those in need, focusing on providing quality education to children from low-income backgrounds who otherwise could not afford schooling. The institution has even opened its doors to children from correctional facilities.\
Oba Abolarin‘s commitment to leadership and education is unwavering. He personally trains his pupils to become future leaders, imbibing a sense of responsibility and purpose in them. Supported by philanthropic friends, Oba Abolarin emphasizes that Nigerians are always eager to contribute to noble causes.
Guided by the biblical prophecy in Isaiah 58:10-12, which calls for compassion and restoration, he believes that nation-building is a collective effort. Oba Abolarin invites others to join him in restoring hope to the hopeless and dedicating themselves to service.
With a mission to ensure that every child recognizes education as the key to their future, he instils a sense of pride in his students, encouraging them to rise above their circumstances.
As Oba Abolarin puts it, “We will not allow our background to put our back to the ground.” His vision for massive development and a brighter future started with just 35 students and has since expanded to 135, providing free education to underprivileged children from various states, including Plateau, Akwa Ibom, Kwara, Borno, Cross River, and Ebonyi.
The school has achieved remarkable milestones, with several graduates successfully enrolling in universities. Notably, 51 students are fully sponsored, including 21 who received full scholarships to the prestigious Adeleke University, thanks to the generosity of Sir Adedeji Adeleke.
