Princess Nike Williams is a big London lady. She’s one of the biggest Nigerian celebrity in the United Kingdom who has carved a niche for herself in the fashion industry. She owns and controls 2 big stores in London where she sells bags, clothing, accessories, etc to many London big babes.  Her business clothing line is called MONIK Fashion House.

She’s is also a queen herself. She has won a beauty pageant in the past. She has been to many countries and cities across the world. When you talk about a lady who is conversant with the latest fashion, Princess Nike name will come to mind. A few weeks back, she came back from her London base to receive City People Female Achievers Awards in Ikeja, Lagos.  Shortly after the award ceremony, she spoke with ISAAC ABIMBADE, about her business and life. Below are excerpts.

 

What does this award you just received tonight means to you?

This award means alot to me! I’m so honoured to have received this award and to be recognized for what I do. And I appreciate everyone, the organisers, especially Dr Seye Kehinde. I appreciate everything the brand stands for.

How do you describe yourself? You are based in the UK and you have done well for yourself? Who is Princess Nike Williams?

I’m in the fashion business in the UK. Well, I started the business back here. It’s about 37 years now have been doing this. I’m into shoes, and wears. At an early age, I used to go to Balogun market with my mom. She deals in fabrics and I often go to help her then. I learned the business from her. I’m happy now that I can follow in her footsteps. From there I went to the UK to start shoe business and I had two shops in the city of London which I’m so happy to have. The stores are stocked up with shoes, bags, clothing, jewelry, and accessories. Fashion in general. I’m back now in Nigeria trying to establish here what I have started online.

How do you intend to break into the Nigerian market?

First of all, I’m experienced in this line of business of fashion. I have had so many years of experience. I have traveled around the world. I have been to many fairs. And I have been to many places for business. I have many years of experience and I know the nitty-gritty of the fashion business. I believe I’m going to do well.

What stand you out among others?

First, I have won a beauty pageant in my secondary school days. That’s have been with me. It’s in the gene. It’s in me and it’s a privilege to know more about this business.

How do you compare Nigeria’s fashion market to the UK’s?

We are getting to know Nigeria market more but we Nigerians are so rated high in the world. Although there still a lot to do to match Paris’ ,Milan’s and all the high-fashion Cities in the world. I myself I’m passionate about this and I’m looking forward to move this fashion line forward.. This will start from Lagos city. How Lagos can match Paris, Milan, Tokyo and other high fliers of the fashion line. I’m looking forward to many fashion shows coming up.

Why are you coming to Nigeria despite the challenges we have here?

First of all, I have a degree in Event and Tourism. I’m looking forward to traveling around, and discovering cities in Nigeria to see how this fashion line can move forward.

Who are your targets?

I sell to every young, adult, full adults. And I’m looking forward to the children line. A lot of things is coming up. And I’m happy to be back in Lagos to start something new and beautiful. Lagos is good.

Can you tell us briefly about your background?

My parents are from Owo but I’m a full Lagosian. I grew up in Lagos. I’m from Owo in Ondo State. And I am from royal family. I’m actually a princess. I’m looking forward to explore.
