Coca-Cola inaugurates 60cl bottle

by Reporter

The Coca-Cola Company has unveiled a new 60cl PET bottle for its soft drinks, promising Nigerian consumers more volume at no additional cost.

In a statement, the company said the newly introduced bottle size would deliver more refreshment at the same price.

Speaking during the launch, Yusuf Murtala, Senior Director of Frontline Marketing at Coca-Cola Nigeria, said the move reflects Coca-Cola’s continued commitment to value and consumer satisfaction.

He said, “We understand that today’s consumers are looking for more value and meaningful experiences in every purchase. The 60cl Coke bottle is our way of giving Nigerians that little Xtraaa, more refreshment, more moments to share, and more joy for the same price.”

Murtala added that the expanded offering would help consumers “come together, share moments, and create memories that last.”

According to Coca-Cola, the new bottle size is now available across its brand portfolio, including Coke, Fanta and Sprite, and is being distributed nationwide.

The company explained that the change is beyond a packaging update but part of a broader strategy to deepen connections with consumers.

Murtala said, “This latest evolution of the brand not only promises the same great taste but also elevates everyday moments, bringing an added layer of enjoyment to every experience.”

Coca-Cola maintained that the upgrade in bottle size reflects its belief that Nigerians “deserve more” and reinforced its pledge to deliver value that resonates with their daily lives.

What’s new: bottle size

Coca-Cola Nigeria has introduced a new 60 cl (600 ml) PET bottle for its soft drink brands.

Coca-Cola. This new size replaces the previous 50 cl (500 ml) option in many instances.

The company calls it their way of giving Nigerians “that little Xtraaa” — *more refreshment, more moments to share, more joy — for the same price.

Coverage: The new size is being rolled out nationwide in Nigeria across the main brands: Coca-Cola Original, and similarly for Fanta and Sprite.

Why the move?

Value for consumers: In an environment where price and value matter a lot, Coca-Cola is offering 20% more volume (500 ml → 600 ml) at the same price.

Consumer focus & brand strengthening: A quote from Senior Director, Frontline Marketing at Coca-Cola Nigeria (Mr. Yusuf Murtala) emphasised meeting consumer expectations, and offering meaningful experiences.

The move also positions the brand as caring about everyday moments, shared refreshment and the idea that “life is better when you embrace a little extra”.

The key “promo” angle here is more drink for the same price, which is itself being positioned as a value-driven offer.

On the Coca-Cola Nigeria website there is reference to the upgrade: “Your 50 CL Coke just got an uplift — now 60 CL of pure enjoyment! More Coke, more vibes for unforgettable moments.”

While this is more of a value proposition than a typical “buy and win” promo, it is clearly being marketed as an incentive for consumers.

There is no widely reported additional prize-based promotion tied specifically to the 60 cl launch (e.g., sweepstakes) in the sources I found — but earlier promotions (for example, the “Drink, Scan & Win” for Coke Studio) exist.
