One of the most respected Muslim clerics in Nigeria right now, Sheikh Al Muktar, has revealed that Covid-19 is the result of God’s Anger with us.
He said this during his recent Instagram Live Chat with City People.
What is his explanation for Covid-19?
“We should know that whenever a challenging epidemic or pandemic is happening it is the result of God’s anger. We have it here in all the books sent from God. It’s in the Quran and the Bible. When something that is not normal happens on the surface of the earth, definitely God that created the earth is not too happy with us that are living on the surface of the earth. He will give us some challenges to let us remember that he is still in charge because at times we live as if we are the owner of the earth we are living in. We forget that we are tenants here. We are all co-tenants here. The major landlord is God. But when we keep doing what is not right and he sends Prophets, messengers to warn us and we don’t listen to his word, he will send challenges to us and we would not be able to resolve it until we go back to him and he will solve it for us.”
What are the lessons we can learn from what we are going through now?
“Since the pandemic started from day one, I have been leading the campaign that we should all minimise whatever bad things that we are doing because Allah gave us the sense to know what is right from what is wrong. We know. We, the religious bodies, every individual should go back to God and minimise whatever bad things we are doing and whatever sins we have been committing.
So, it is what we should take seriously. We should take it seriously. We should follow all the measures we have been told and go back to God. Pray to him and we should let him know we have sinned against him. It is God that is angry with us. Let’s go by what God says. The pandemic will come and go”.
Can we predict when it will go?
No one can predict when it will go. This is not the first time pandemic will come. Even, at the time of the Prophets, Allah sent things like this and he takes it back when he wishes. Nobody can predict when it will go because nobody predicted it when it came.
