Tuesday, September 9, 2025, marked a defining moment in the grooming of future leaders in medicine as Dr. Abayomi Ajayi formally kick-started the 4th edition of his Physicians Mentoring Programme (Cohort 4).
The programme, now in its fourth year, has become a powerful platform designed to prepare young doctors for excellence—equipping them with leadership, management, and mindset-shaping skills to thrive in the ever-evolving world of healthcare.
This year’s onboarding session, held virtually, brought together 13 promising young physicians who make up Cohort 4:

A Vision Beyond Medicine
In his welcome address, Dr. Ajayi—renowned fertility expert and CEO of Nordica Fertility Centre—reiterated that the programme is not just about clinical mastery but about shaping physicians with vision, courage, and responsibility.
> “This mentoring programme is about helping young doctors see things differently—understanding leadership, management, and the responsibility their profession demands in nation-building. It is about raising leaders who will make Nigeria, and indeed the world, proud,” he emphasized.
Alumni from previous cohorts also shared stirring testimonies about how the initiative transformed their careers and personal growth, motivating the new participants to make the most of the experience.

To guide the mentees, 13 distinguished professionals and thought leaders from diverse sectors will work hand-in-hand with Dr. Ajayi. They include:

During the onboarding session, some of these mentors delivered inspiring words of encouragement. Notably, Mrs. Rasheedat Adebisi, Mr. Funmi Onabolu, and Prof. Afolabi Lesi shared practical wisdom on leadership, resilience, and vision—leaving the mentees motivated and eager to embark on their journey.
The Road Ahead
Programme Coordinator Mr. Onuorah Molokwu moderated the onboarding, guiding both mentors and mentees through introductions. Each mentee also shared their personal goals and expectations, creating an atmosphere of anticipation and shared purpose.
As the session wrapped up, it became clear that Cohort 4 is more than just another mentoring cycle—it is the launchpad for a group of determined young physicians ready to stand out, impact lives, and help reshape the future of healthcare in Nigeria and beyond.
With the foundation now laid, Cohort 4 is set for an exciting journey of learning, inspiration, and transformation.
