•Details Of Their New Deal
The 2023 presidential election is less than 2 months away, as top political gladiators across the board are seen lobbying, aligning and networking with one another in the background. Top political figures in the country have been on top of their games in ensuring they come out victorious in the next presidential election, which comes up in February 2023.
The All Progressives Congress flag bearer, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who many regard as one of the leading candidates in the coming elections is strategising heavily.
Tinubu, who is known as a political genius; a juggernaut who has been playing active politics for over 3 decades and has never lost a single election, is confident he would be the candidate to beat in the coming election.
If there is one presidential candidate among the 3 leading candidates that has a national spread is popular among the electorate in all major political zones, it is no other person than Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Apart from the fact that he would be enjoying the power of incumbency, because his political party is the one in power, this political strategist is a master of the game, any day anytime! Apart from funds, power, influence, power of incumbency, and popularity in the north, south which other presidential candidates are still struggling to match, it has now been said that it will be political suicide for Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party and Peter Obi of Labour Party if Tinubu is allowed to perfect his master plan.
Don’t forget that before this coming election, a certain person from the north who has been seeking power for many decades and has contested the presidency for 5 times has made this election a do-or-die affair because this would likely be his last try. He is already in his 70s and he is a strong candidate to beat, considering his experience in the past.
Rumors have it that, Dr. Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigerian People’s Party was sponsored to divide northern votes in favour of Tinubu. A few months back, a video of Dr. Rabiu Kwankwaso surfaced online where he recorded that if he cannot get it, he will recommend Tinubu for the job.
He said he will support his counterpart from the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu if he perceives he cannot win. Kwankwaso made this known in an interview on Arise TV, a few months ago.
The former Kano governor spoke following Tinubu’s announcement of Sen. Kashim Shettima as his running mate. He claimed he had a good rapport with the APC national leader in the past and could not underrate his capabilities and tactics to manage Nigeria’s affairs.
Kwankwaso said: “I am so happy about the combination, my only worry is the platform, I know Bola Tinubu is a strategist; he is a good man, I have had reasons to sit with him several times, from 1990 till date.
“The only thing I don’t know is what he will tell Nigerians he will do differently from what President Muhammadu Buhari is doing. Ordinarily, if I cannot get (the presidency), I can recommend Tinubu”
In the last few days, a lot of rumors have also been peddled that he is likely to withdraw from the race and give Tinubu his support. What that means is that he would be relinquishing his ambition for Tinubu and handing over his over 10 million projected votes to Tinubu.
And so far, Kwankwaso is yet to officially begin his presidential campaign when the election is less than 2 months away.
If this happens, it will be a masterstroke that will deflate other contenders.
The second one is the governor of Rivers, Nyesom Wike. He is a big factor in the south. He’s bent on destroying Atiku’s chances. It’s obvious he won’t be supporting Atiku in the coming elections. It has also been said that he will likely pitch his tent beside Tinubu. How? A few months back, Alhaji Ibrahim Masari, a close associate of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, said that after meeting the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike in London, they are confident that Wike would now work for the success of Tinubu come 2023.
Alhaji Ibrahim Masari, who spoke from London, told the BBC Hausa, that it’s true Tinubu met Wike and they would continue to meet in due course.
According to him,” the meeting was basically on the 2023 presidential election and by God’s grace, we are going to work with His Excellency, Governor Nyesom Wike, he will assist and we are going to win the election with ease, by the will of God.”
In the last few months, Governor Wike has come to Lagos to celebrate with the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu. He (Wike) had also invited Sanwo-Olu to Rivers to commission some projects. This romance between Wike and APC goes beyond the ordinary. Wike and his other governors who formed G-5 governors have set January as the date to declare his preferred candidate.
In other news, the 5 governors that formed the G-5 governors which are Nyesom Wike of Rivers, Seyi Makinde of Oyo, Samuel Ortom of Benue, Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia, and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu have met with the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu in London, the United Kingdom on Tuesday, December 28th, 2022.
The APC standard bearer was said to have lobbied for the endorsement of the five governors during the marathon meeting which was held on Tuesday.
Governors Nyesom Wike (Rivers), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), Samuel Ortom (Benue) and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu States and some political heavyweights from the South had vowed not to support the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, over the refusal of the party’s National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, to resign after Atiku obtained the presidential ticket of the party.
But hours after the governors’ meeting with Tinubu, the PDP said it was not aware of their parley with the ruling party’s presidential candidate, noting that as far it was concerned, the governors were in the UK on vacation.
The main opposition party, however, threatened to punish the governors for any anti-party activities, stressing that it had the capacity to discipline the recalcitrant governors.
Shedding light on the London meeting, a source stated, “Tinubu met with the aggrieved governors yesterday (Tuesday) along with a delegation that included (Kayode) Fayemi, (Babajide) Sanwo-Olu, one other governor and an ex-governor. For now, we are only waiting for the G-5 governors to make the official pronouncement in January.”
On what the demands of the aggrieved governors were, the source declined speaking, on the grounds that he wouldn’t want to speculate.
If Tinubu, the master strategist, is able to pull the strings and gets their support, that will be the end for the two other major contenders who are seeking for the same office.
