Have you noticed the great changes in the Oyo State Transport Management Agency, OYTROMA? You must have also seen the good level of sanity and orderliness on the roads and motor parks across the state.
If not, we can tell authoritatively that OYTROMA has been transformed. Efforts of Governor Seyi Makinde-led administration in the pacesetter state, especially in roads maintenance and traffic management, are yielding positive results already.
In turning around the fortune of the pacesetter state, especially in the area of roads maintenance and management, the government’s efforts are already yielding positive results.
Since inception, one of the key areas which have been the focus of this administration, are road maintenance and traffic management.
In accordance with its programs to enhance the actualisation of the Strategic Roadmap for Accelerated Development Plan 2019-2023, the government is making sure it provides the agency with all the necessary tools to perform to expectations. The agency is been fortified with many equipment including brand new vehicles, to be able to cover the 33 local government areas in the state.
Members of staff of the agency are also being encouraged by the government. Their Responsibility Allowances, aside from salaries, is being paid as and when due.
Behind these sterling achievements of Oyo OYTROMA however, is no other man than Governor Seyi’s political godson and the Executive Chairman of the agency, Mogaji (Dr.) Akin Fagbemi.
Under Fagbemi’s watch, OYTROMA has experienced a tremendous change. His team is working round the clock to make sure there is a free flow of traffic and coordinations on major roads across the state. Indiscriminate parking on the roads across Oyo State now comes with stiff penalties. That has really helped a great deal in curbing the excesses of some motorists who normally cause an obstruction on the roads.
Commercial vehicles, as well as tricycles and motorcycles operating in the state, are mandated to have uniform paint colours of Oyo State, for proper identification and all. Night patrol, within the state’s capital, Ibadan, has also be introduced by Akin Fagbemi. This is coupled with a quick response to emergency issues by the agency.
In response to COVID-19 pandemic as well, OYTROMA has made sure that drivers in the state and all the stakeholders are well sensitised and informed of the danger attached to Coronavirus, and how they can protect themselves and passengers from the deadly virus. They have also been active in collaborating with other security agencies in the state, to curtail the spread of the virus. Some of the significant achievements of the Oyo State Transport Management Agency under Akin Fagbem, in eleven months, including but not limited to:
