The colourful event took place at the Muson Center, Onikan, Lagos Island, Lagos, where guests were treated to a sumptuous dinner. City People Society Editor, TAYO FAJORIN OYEDIJI, was at the dinner party.
PRINCE BISI PULLED A BIG CROWD
Bisi Olatilo, popularly called Original December boy, celebrates his birthday on the 20th of December but shifted this year’s to Friday 21st by popular demand from his numerous (high caliber) friends who will love to stay for many hours at the dinner party. He had them in hand full and when you talk about the who is who in the society. Many of them were well represented at his party. He is a man of many parts and many love to always pay him back for his goodwill.
THE BIRTHDAY DINNER AT MUSON CENTRE
The multiple celebrations started with introduction of guests by the master of ceremony of the day, Koffi Idowu Nuel, popularly known as Koffi.
Prince Bisi Olatilo is no small fry in the entertainment and broadcasting sector having garnered experience of over 45 years. He has dined and wined with the who is who in the country which is why his birthday party was well attended.
He looked dapper in a white swiss outfit and his lovely wife, Sade, also looked regal in beautiful white lace sewn into a lovely dress.
The dress code for the day was white and guests turned out in their white outfits. And the venue was well decorated in colours black and white.
LOTTO BOSS,KESSINGTON ADEBUTU WAS THE CHAIRMAN
The chairman of the birthday party was Lotto boss, Chief Kessington Adebutu, who declared the event opened with his opening speech. He congratulated the celebrant and called him the genius of our time by doffing his hat for him. He also wished him many more birthdays and a very successful marriage.
LAGOS CITY CHORAL TOOK THE NINE LESSONS SONGS
The 2nd edition of the BISCON Christmas Carol was handled by the Lagos City Choral led by award winning chorale leader, Steve Nwokedi. The Carol night also showcased a beautiful Christmas rendition by Nigerian born US based classical female singer, Abiodun Koya who hails from Ijebu in Ogun State.
OLOROGUN SUNNY KUKU AND ABIOLA DOSUNMU SUPERVISED CAKE CUTTING
The cutting of the beautiful birthday cake which was made into a TV and microphone shape was supervised by the Co-founder of Eko Hospital, Olorogun Sunny Kuku and Erelu Kuti of Lagos, Erelu Abiola Dosunmu, after which the birthday song was rendered to the celebrant.
CELEBRANT’S FRIEND OF MANY YEARS GAVE THE TOAST
The toast was done by no other than long time friend of the celebrant and close ally, John Momoh, the Chairman of Channels TV. He took guests down memory lane how he was privileged to have witnessed his friends 37th wedding anniversary because he was also present at their wedding at Mapo Hall in Ibadan. He said “I used to know Bisi when he was poor and since Sade came into his life, his life has changed for the better. We started from radio together; we were both at Voice of Nigeria. We did broadcasting together comparing notes. He is my very good friend. I commend both of them on this 37th milestone”.
Later, he made a toast to a beautiful life for the couple.

The high point of the party was when men of timber and caliber were called upon to share the tips on how to keep a successful marriage. The likes of those who gave tips on how their marriages have lasted for many years were Prof Toyin Ashiru, the Md/Ceo of Tricontinental Oil. He tipped that couple must find time to enjoy themselves, he also spoke on 5Cs of marriage which are Communication, Clarity, Creativity, Caring and Commitment. The former Deputy Governor of Lagos, Otunba Femi Pedro, said women are the pillars that hold the house due to their maturity.
The MD of Fidelity Bank, Nnamdi Okonkwo inturn said that he has been married for 23 years and he and his wife both agreed that divorce will never be an option for them. He also emphasized that verbal communication also helps in marriage. Former Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Akin Aduwo specified that women who are extremely tolerant keep the home better and he used himself as an example. He also said women need to be treated well to enjoy a peaceful self sustainable marriage.
The Aare Ona Kakanfo of Owu Kingdom, Bolu Akin Olugbade spoke on 3 things a woman wants from a man. He mentioned money, love, and a very romantic man.
Prince Jide Osinubi gave an approach of love songs, while Yoruba Tennis Club Chairman, Prof. Fabanwo and Island Club Chairman, Mr. Olubanji talked about romance, money, care and understanding between couples.
SHUGA BAND THRILLED GUESTS
Shuga Band later ushered all guests to the dance floor where they were treated to good music and they all rocked the dance floor for hours.
The celebrant is well loved by all and his story can not be complete without talking about how he started connecting with the high and mighty, many decades ago. Born on December 20th, 1953. Prince Bisi Olatilo holds a B.SC Degree in Mass Communication from Lagos State University Ojo, Lagos. He started his broadcasting career at BCOS Ibadan in 1970 before joining the Voice of Nigeria,VON, the external service of the federal radio coop of Nigeria, FRCN. He moved to Radio Nigeria where he worked for 22 years, reading news, producing and presenting different programmes. Bisi’s abundantly gifted with the mastery of 3 Nigerian languages, Yoruba, Igbo and Hausa, He is the pioneer head of the indigenous languages at Radio Nigeria 3 in the 1980s and 1990s until he left radio broadcasting as a toast of listeners in 1999. He is an accomplished MC with over 45 years experience in broadcasting having compered major events. He has many awards in his kitty. He hails from Igbajo in Osun State.
VOTE OF THANKS
The celebrant was full of joy as he took the mocrophone and appreciated all guests who came to show him love and support on his birthday. He thanked his staff too who have been the brain behind putting out good production for BISCON TV, especially the producers of the Bisi Olatilo Show. The vote of thanks was done by his daughter, Adewunmi Olatilo Funsho.
