How CHACHA EKE’s 9-Year Marriage Crashed

by Biodun Alao

When star actress, Chacha Eke announced her separation from her husband, Austin Faani some days ago, many were surprised. She made the announcement on her Instagram page where she wrote “leave now alive or leave as a corpse. Many have died pretending all is well whilst wishing, hoping and praying for a better tomorrow, I don’t want to die or go inexplicably ‘missing’, I sincerely and publicly apologise for living a lie these past years, true to random speculation, there has been trouble in my perceived paradise.

For the 2nd time in 2 years, I am here again on social media, boldly declaring that I am done with my marriage, my long overdue/relentless stance on this is of course no news to Austin Faani, the doctors and my parents”.

She also added that her life might be at risk, pointing out the severity of the situation. “If push comes to shove and suddenly I am incommunicado, my lawyers, the welfare department and the Nigerian Police Force have my testimonials in recorded video clips and statements set for public release on all social media apps and national newspapers”.

This is the second time this highly talented mother of 4 has publicly announced her separation from her husband.

In 2020, she released a video informing the public of their split.

“You will say I am crazy, but I am not. I just want to let you know that I am done with the marriage. I don’t have a lot to prove that I am done with him but I am done. I am done. I am leaving with my life finally. I can’t say a lot now. You will hear my story”.

A few days after this post, she dismissed this claim, claiming she has bipolar. “I made a video a few days ago saying that my marriage to Austin Faani is over and got a lot of backlash from people with many insinuating that it is a clear case of domestic violence.

“It is not, Austin has never laid his hands on me. He has never even raised his voice at me and God in heaven knows that is the truth”.

“Several psychiatrists have come to assist me mentally and I have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder…”

Chacha Eke and Austin met at a Nollywood Talent Show Hunt in 2007, they started dating a few years later and got married in 2013 and their marriage is blessed with 4 adorable kids.

It was revealed, that the multi-talented actress was not enjoying her marriage, the way it ought to be before she decided to separate from her husband. Considering how she became a shadow of herself after marriage.

Before her marriage to popular filmmaker, Austin Faani, she was one of the most sought-after stars in the industry. She was featured in award-winning movies back-to-back. Most producers enjoy featuring her and Mercy Johnson, because of their exceptional role interpretations.

She joined the industry in 2009 after taking part in the Miss Nollywood Talent Hunt Show, an acting competition which was held in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, Nigeria. After the competition, she started attending auditions and began acting as a minor character in movies.

She was eventually introduced to the movie industry by Austin Faani, a Movie Director and Editor who also connected her to top movie producers and directors.

She rose to fame in 2012 after acting in the blockbuster movie titled “End Is Near”. She is so creative and can interpret any role so perfectly. A few years into her marriage, she became scarce in movies and she became a shadow of herself.

A lot of fans were really bothered. Things took a new turn after she made the first video about ending her marriage. She returned to the industry with full force, dominating the movie scene, as it was years back, featuring in movies back-to-back, and lots of fans anticipating the new movie, she will be featuring in.

According to our source, Chacha is obviously a scandal-free Nollywood star and she tried to endure so much in the marriage for the sake of her children but couldn’t anymore and had no other option than to end it. This also explains why many of her colleagues supported her decision to end the marriage.

Recall, Chacha Eke’s brother Aik Eke also spoke about the sister’s welfare, the first time, Chacha claimed, she had bipolar.

He said the heart of men is full of deceit and evil. He also disclosed that his sister is not suffering from any bipolar disorder and that her husband forced her to say such to clear his name.

For many who don’t know much about Austin Faani, Chacha’s husband. He is a popular Movie Director, Producer, Editor and businessman.
