•Between MERCY JOHNSON & TOYIN ABRAHAM
It’s no more news that Funke Akindele’s latest movie “Buka Street” and Toyin Abraham’s latest movie “Ijakumo” are currently trending on social media and cinemas across the country and abroad.
These two movies dominated the cinemas during the festive period, and it’s been a stiff competition between the two movies. Many fans and movie buffs have continued to compare their performance in the cinemas, even though, they don’t have any similar storylines.
No matter what the fans say, these two strong female film makers have continued to impress their fans back-to-back, all the time, as their movies keep making it to the top at the box office. They are both very hardworking, and making the female folks very proud in the entertainment industry.
They are both not slowing down, as the two movies have started showing in different cinemas in the US, and UK and lots of reviews have been enjoyed by both of them from their fans who have seen the movies.
Recall in 2021 when Toyin Abraham shot and released Ghost & The Tout too, it was star studded and it also featured star actress, Mercy Johnson. Toyin Abraham and Mercy became so close, that many envied their relationship.
Toyin made a video of when she visited Mercy Johnson’s house and even went on social media to talk about Mercy’s husband. In the post, Toyin said Prince Odi (Mercy’s husband) always makes Mercy Johnson happy, she also described him as an amazing soul.
Mercy equally responded to the post and showered blessings on Toyin Abraham and also declared that happiness will never depart from her home.
Also during the shoot of Toyin Abraham’s movie, a video went viral, where Prince Odi visited Mercy on location, and both friends ran to kneel and greet Mercy’s husband.
Many fans admired their friendship and even started tagging them new besties.
Also when Mercy Johnson made a post celebrating her daughter Purity for making her proud on representing her school in a swimming competition at the World School Games in Dubai, she revealed that though her daughter did not win but she is proud of her.
Reacting to the post, Toyin Abraham hailed Mercy’s daughter, Purity and jokingly berated Johnson for not tagging her to the post, stating that they both gave birth to her duaghter.
Mercy quickly responded and pleaded with Toyin for not tagging her to the post.

These two share a special bond, and their friendship had grown past just being colleagues and lots of fans were really happy and admired them.
But all this seems to have changed and it became very obvious, when Funke Akindele featured Mercy as one of the main characters in her latest movie “Buka Street”. As usual Mercy gave an outstanding performance. Many concluded it was normal for Mercy to feature in any of her colleagues movies if she desires. But one thing has indeed come as a shock to many. Considering the bond Mercy and Toyin shared, one will expect, she will still promote her friend’s movie on her page but rather, she distanced herself completely from the movie “Ijakumo”. She never promoted it, and didn’t attend the movie premiere as well.
Toyin on the other hand would have celebrated Purity’s 10th year birthday on her page, but she didn’t as well. Many have been wondering, what happened between these too jolly friends whose friendship many admired and envied.
