how gov. Fubara reacted to supreme court verdict

The Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminialayi Fubara on Friday 26th of January 2024 delivered a televised state broadcast where he dedicated the Judgement of the Supreme Court of Nigeria on affirmation of his 2023 Governorship election as a victory for the good people of Rivers State whose mandate he is holding as entrusted upon him during the election proper.

The elated governor stated unequivocally his well thought out plans to deliver even human capital development in the state. In his own words he said “ It is with a great joy and total deference to the Almighty God that I address you after a tortuous legal journey following the governorship election in our state.

“It is with great nostalgia I reflect on your trust and the absolute confidence you bestowed on us on that fateful March 18, 2023 when you gave us your mandate. Even with that overwhelming support, we had to go through litigation to validate your choice and confirmation of your mandate to us.

“We are deeply elated by the verdict of the Supreme Court of our dear nation, which has finally affirmed our victory. I owe this victory, not to my efforts or our ingenuity but to God and to you the good people of Rivers State.” Sir Fubara also thanked President Bola Tinubu for playing the role of a father in Rivers State and all Rivers leaders and well meaning people of the state. The governor said the Supreme Court ruling is an immeasurable energizer to accelerate governance with utmost sense of commitment for the benefit of all Rivers people irrespective of political persuasion or ethnic affiliation. “In this regard, what is important to us is the accelerated growth and development of our dear state.

“Now that the litigations are over, we call on the opposition political parties in the state to join hands with our government to build the Rivers State of our dreams. “I extend the olive branch to my contenders and all others who went through the hog and or who withdrew their cases for the love of the state.

“I believe we are all Rivers people and by virtue of that brotherhood, let us therefore, put aside our differences and bond together to build one indivisible and greater Rivers State that posterity will remember us for.”

Immediately he got the full information on the victory from his lawyers Governor Siminialayi Fubara addressed journalists at Government House Port Harcourt while in the evening of Thursday 25th of January 2024, he visited Salvation Ministries a.k.a Home of Success led by General Overseer Senior Pastor David Ibiyeomie as he participated in the 4th Day Church service in which the Sermon message centered on vengeance and forgiveness.

Still on the events of Friday 26th of January 2024, Governor Siminialayi Fubara in fulfilment to the Presidential Proclamation 8 Points Resolutions of Rivers State crisis, he sworn in the already screened 9 returnee Commissioners amongst who are Professor Zaccheous Adangor Commissioner of Justice and Attorney General of Rivers State, Dr. Jacobson Nbina Commissioner of Transportation, Barrister Mrs. Inime Chinwenwo Aguma Commissioner of Social Rehabilitation, Alabo George Dax Kelly PhD Commissioner of Works, Engr. Ben Golden Chioma and others. In conclusion to his public address to Rivers people, Governor Fubara reiterated his administration milestone achievement so far reached in less than 8 months in office “My administration has recorded remarkable achievements in the areas of human capital development, social investment engineering, infrastructural development, micro and macroeconomic advancement and sustainable socioeconomic development across sectors.

“In addition, we have made some substantial progress in infrastructure, housing, security, urban renewal development as well as rural healthcare. We intend to sustain the tempo and expand the development net in the great ride to prosperity in our State.”

The elated Rivers State Governor Siminialayi Fubara now is being perceived as the most friendly people’s governor in the history of Rivers State since May 27th 1967 when the state was created under Military Head of State Lt. General Yakubu Gowon. Already he has been nominated for the Most Peace loving Governor of the Year by Silverbird Communication Ltd operators of Silverbird Television and Rhythm Fm stations across Nigeria.

His public rating is very high given his disposition in conducting the affairs of Rivers State. One his attributes include on the spot visit of disaster scenes and his humanitarian activities to victims of natural disasters. His down-to-earth policies that touch on low income earners especially health sector where his cabinet through Commissioner of Health Dr. (Mrs.) Adaeze Chidinma Oreh who has started campaign for provision of Balanced Nutrition for under 5 years age children in Rivers State which she launched at Prof. Kesley Harrison Hospital Diobu Port Harcourt. Rivers State First Lady Mrs. Valerie Fubara is also campaigning for Under 5 Children Balanced Nutrition Campaign For Rivers State people.
