If you were meeting Amarachi Stephanie Ani for the first time, chances are that you can’t but like her personality. And it’s not just because she is an absolutely gorgeous looking lady, but because she is also possibly one of the calmest, brilliant and sweetest women you are likely to come across. And yes, she has an adorable smile too.
But that’s not all about this young and intensely creative lady, she is also an actress. She has already begun making indelible marks in Nollywood and she’s left no one in doubt about her talent and desire to reach the pinnacle of her career within the shortest possible time.
Presently, Amarachi, more popularly known by her brand name, Stephmara, is bringing to the fore the pro-active side of her by expressing her desire to contest for the post of Assistant Secretary of the Actors Guild of Nigeria. And she is not joking about it. She has launched a full campaign, going round media houses and intimating movie practitioners of her aspirations and plans if elected.
It was a fun-filled time when the delectable actress and her image maker, the ever-efficient Cornel Udofia, visited City People office as part of a familiarisation tour. City People Senior Editor, WALE LAWAL (08037209290) had a brief chat with the very intelligent lady and got her to speak about her acting career and aspirations as she contests to become the next Assistant Secretary of the Actors Guild of Nigeria. Enjoy excerpts of the interview.
First, share with us a bit about your background and schools attended…
My name is Amarachi Stephanie Ani. aka (Stephmara). I’m from Imo State, and I was born there.
I had my Elementary school in Enugu and Akwa Ibom states respectfully and had my secondary school in Lagos State.
I proceeded to the Institute of Management and Technology in Enugu to study Banking and Finance. I later served in Osun State.
And I am presently based in Lagos.
How did you get involved in acting and who were your influences at the time?
I was interested in acting from a young age. And I’ve been doing it since I was ten, though not professionally, but, I’ve been involved for a long time. I was a member of my church group back then called Bliss Theatre. I was also in a Choreography group as well called Barack Praise. Then I went to school and graduated With an HND in Banking and finance. And because acting has always been my passion I would sometimes, during breaks go for a movie audition. Even though I never featured in a movie until my passing out. After which I had to go through some training in other to improve my acting skills.
What are your aspirations as an actress?
As an actress, I aim to evolve my skills in more challenging roles and provide efficient solutions and experience by working with professionals. I also want to develop my leadership and organizational skills. This will help me achieve my goal of leading production teams in the future.
You are vying for an elective position within the Actors Guild of Nigeria, tell us about it.
I am contesting for the post of Assistant Secretary, Actors Guild of Nigeria Lagos Chapter.
I believe strongly that I fit into this position because I am a super passionate individual who values Acting and serving people.
And being a part of the Executives would be a privilege.
So, if elected, what are you hoping to do differently? What are you hoping to bring to the table?
If elected into this position, I will always strive to do my best and facilitate the most optimally productive atmosphere possible. I have had previous experience in a secretarial and administrative position and it has challenged me and allowed me to exercise my communication skills.
I promise to carry out my duties diligently if elected.
On a lighter note, you are a pretty-looking young lady, as an actress, how tough has it been for you dealing with men who always want to be closer to you than you would like them to be?
Well! It hasn’t really been easy, I must confess but, we try to stay focused!
Mention a few of the movies you have featured in?
I have acted in movies such as A Love Like Ours produced by Ralph Nwadike, Escape produced and directed by Chimex Joel, Adam and Eve produced and directed by Jonathan Emenike.
