Bridget Missa is a very beautiful lady, who makes other ladies look beautiful. She is a Nollywood actress. And she also runs a successful Skincare business with outlets in Lagos & Dubai.
She lives in Dubai. She also lives in Lagos, Nigeria. She is a hardworking lady who juggles the two ends. She personally attends to her clients in Dubai & UAE and before you wonder where she is, she is back in Lagos to physically meet her clients and attends to them. She also goes on location to act in movies. She is also a dutiful mother and wife.
How does she juggle all these? “It is the Grace of God”, she told City People recently. “I can’t complain. I always plan my schedule. Those in Dubai know when I am there to see them. Those in Nigeria also know. My people in the Movie world know how to reach me to schedule location dates. I am cool with everything. You know I am still young and I spend quality time with my kids. They are still young.”
Which one came first? Acting or Skincare business? (Laughs) “Acting came first. I actually started acting since ABENI. I mean Tunde Kelani’s Abeni. That was my 1st movie in year 2000 or 2001. All along, I always come in and go. I can be very principled.
Before some stuff happens, I used to know, through intuition. Most times when I say things and they happen, people always say how do you know? It has been like that for my movie career. It has been a tough career. Movie is not a journey for the weak. It takes a lot from you.
Its a journey for tough people. That is why atimes I withdraw and I come back. But it has been a good experience. It has taught me to be strong. I have always loved acting but I don’t like the stress. It can be stressful. So, when I am really stressed I withdraw to go and rest and I then come back. That is how I have been recharging. I am in a hurry to be in every movie, but to the glory of God.
Acting in movies has brought me out of my shell. That is why when I go to some places where I don’t expect people to know me, and they say Oh! My God I have been seeing you in movies”.
Where was she born? Where did she grow up? “Hmmm! I grew up in Lagos. I grew up in Somolu but most people will not know because I am this indoor person. I am always on my own. Because I have this very large gapped tooth, each time I laugh, people tend to laugh at me.
So, I usually don’t laugh. I keep to myself because people will say, hey she’s laughing, look at her gapped tooth. So, that took away myself esteem, a bit. I am the only child.
I schooled in Lagos. I schooled in Ijebu-Ode, AGGS. (Boarding School), then Olabisi Onabanjo University. I read Computer Science. I finished my Masters in Dubai in Business Administration”. Did she know at that time that she was going to go into Skincare business?
“No. I don’t plan what I do. I let it come. At that time, what I had in mind was to teach. I was a Teacher and then I was good. My principal kept looking for me in Dubai. Anything I want to do, I do it well. I didn’t know I was going into Skincare.
But I love good skin. I love to see healthy skin, natural skin. Then, I loved to see good skin, but I didn’t know I was going to turn it into a big business like this. I also went for my crash course. I am still doing the course, along Teaching line. Its a course that has to do with teaching. I am not done with it. So, I just thought I am going to be a Teacher, be a family person. Later, I just switched.
The thing is, I allowed God to take control. Whatsoever comes I accept it. And I am always positive at all times. So, I won’t accept negative things. I am always Positive. And everything I do, I am always successful in it. In this Skincare business I think I have come to stay. I love the Reviews, I love the smiles I put on peoples faces. I love the fact that I give people their confidence back.
When many women talk to me about what they are going through, they say Bridget Misaa you can’t imagine what I go through with my husband bla, bla, bla. I will then tell them, do it this way, do it that way, then use this. They will then smile and say Thank you, you just restored my confidence back. I just got my confidence back. that alone is going to make me stay for a very, very long time, in the skin business”.
How did she get the name Bridget Misaa”. “I am from Delta State. My husband is from Ibadan. I am actually Adebayo. My husbands name is Adebayo. But I needed a name that can quickly register, that can sink fast. So, I thought, my second name is Ori Omisaa. So, I just took the Misaa and added Bridget to it. For business purpose I created the name Bridget Misaa. My clients love the name.
And the name has helped me do what I want to do. My second name is Ori Omisaa. I took Misaa out of it. How does she juggle Nigeria & Dubai? “Its crazy ooo. This my trip, I planned it in 2 days, because I needed to come and do something very important. Thank God for the level of the understanding of my husband. He understands me and Gods Grace.”
And how does she pick up roles in movies? “I plan what I do. I don’t take up all scripts. When I know I am coming, I plan my movies. Whenever I am available, I pick up roles, if I like the movie, because I am always busy with the skin business too. My staff are good. I am very creative. I am extremely creative. I write a lot. I imagine a lot. So, I am always having somebody beside me that takes down note and grabs it immediately.
What kind of person is Bridget Misaa? “I am one crazy happy child. You won’t know this. When you see me from a far you may feel, I can be very difficult. Yes I can be very difficult. Sometimes I guess right a lot. I really don’t approach people. I don’t know how to approach people. But I know most people inside out. I can read most people. I speak my mind. I talk a lot. I don’t talk off sense.
I know when to stop. I talk a lot because most times I need to explain a lot. Am I aggressive? No I am not. But I can be, when it is time to get result and I don’t get it result. I call my workers and make them see reasons why we should get result now. So, in that process I can become aggressive and when the result is out, and we get what I want, we can then go out and go drink, because I play a lot. So, I need to be careful.
I need to balance it, if not everything will become playful. So, that is Bridget. Nigeria is my base”.
How did you come up with the name Fairy Skin Treatment? “The name came to me in a dream. Its like I knew what I wanted in my dream. I just needed my dream to come to reality, even though I didn’t know I was going to do the business. You see how complicated it is. I dream a lot. I imagine a lot.
My dreaming is imagination. Those are the things they didn’t teach us here. They teach them there in Dubai. When we teach in Dubai, we encourage children to imagine. In the spiritual world, it is what you imagine that you will be. If you don’t imagine it, you can’t achieve it. Keep saying it until you do it. It is because I imagine most things I do that is why it is working.
