  • Pastor FEMI EMMANUEL Reveals

One of the most popular and charismatic preachers of the word right is now is Pastor Femi Emmanuel of the Living Spring Chapel International. He is hugely followed and listened to by Christians of all shades and denominations. They love the frankness with which he speaks. They also love the fact that he is a very practical person. He believes in practical Christianity, doing what is sensibly right as a Christian. This is why, a lot of times, he uses his past experiences and encounters to teach his congregation how to navigate through the murky waters of life. Sometimes, he even uses issues between him and his wife as example, leaving the beautiful, calm woman, always smiling on her seat and shaking hear head as though to say, ‘this man again, he won’t let me rest!” It is so clear to see that this amazing couple love each other dearly, despite having been married for more than 41 years and blessed with beautiful children.

But their marriage, Pastor Femi Emmanuel, will tell anyone that cares to listen, did not take off without it’s own serious hiccups. It was not a bed of roses for them at the start. In fact, at a point, according top Pastor Femi Emmanuel, the marriage was not only falling apart, divorce was staring at them right in the face!

Hear him: “I came from a background of failed marriages, so it was not my turn to fail. If care is not taken, what is running in your family will run to you. If you don’t have God to call to, there are certain things that are genetic. My marriage was almost failing and I was cooperating with the devil to make it fail because I was going about it the traditional way. I would say, ‘in our house, my father will not take this one! No, no, no, no woman can do this to my father! Somebody should’ve told me that is it your kind of father’s life you want to live?”

“Was he a champion? Did he enjoy that life? Everyday, I grew to see my mother and my father fighting physically. ‘O pamio, e gba mio!’ she will shout. We too, we will hold our father, ‘don’t kill her! Don’t kill her! At a point, my mother left the house, went away for years. I tell you the story of my parents today so that you will know that those you call great men today also passed through valleys. The early days of my marriage was tough. Our marriage was almost separating, we were almost going for divorce. I said no, it shouldn’t be like this. My head came back home. Heaven just reset my brain. And I was a Christian, an interpreter to my Pastor. A Sunday school teacher. I said, no, it shouldn’t be like this. And I have told you this before, it was not the marriage Satan was working against but this ministry.”

“I never knew I was going to be a pastor. I was just a brother ih the church and I thought I could do anything. I will tell my wife, ‘I will send you away! I don’t even know how I married you, I made a mistake!’ She too will shout, ‘I made a mistake!’

“But God has turned our mistake into a miracle. I don’t know who is listening to me, what appears to be a mistake in your life shall be turned to a miracle in the name of Jesus. Sometimes, I say to my wife, lets fight again now. Those days we were fighting…I will not eat her for 6 months. We won’t greet each other. When she asks me questions, I just mumble my reply. I say, okay, yes, no. When it becomes monosyllables, you know, no communication….when a marriage wants to die, communication is the first thing that will be killed. Please, restore communication back to your marriage. For every marriage that is troubled, I decree, peace be still in the name of Jesus.”

“Today, my marriage is over 41 years and its like we’re just starting honeymoon. An average couple has one reason or another to separate. Me and my wife, we were fighting everyday. Sometimes, she will come and beg and beg and I will just walk away. And she too is tough, fire for fire! Within the first four years, that marriage almost scattered. I will shout, I regret marrying you, she too will say, I regret marrying you! And we were coming to church o! She was singing in the choir. We will fight and fight and fight.

And when she was tired, she will go and meet my pastor and my pastor will say I will remove you. And I was known in church, I was his interpreter. He will say, if this woman brings your case here again, I will remove you! And you know, my own marriage is also cross-cultured, I didn’t marry from my tribe, we don’t speak the same language. My people will come and greet me and my wife will be going up and down and I will tell her, we are not talking about you..i am a very, very practical preacher, but then, a time came and God reset my brain.”

“Like I told you, the devil was not about us, it was about our future. And we had set a date to separate o, and my siblings were very happy because if there’s one thing my family did not like me for then, it was that I disobeyed them, marrying outside of our culture. Nigerians are funny people, they will say don’t marry from this tribe, don’t marry from that tribe. Even from the same tribe, they will tell you don’t from within a certain people. But when God came to reset my brain, I said to her as from day, no more fighting. And that’s some over 30 years ago. There has been no fight since then. You can choose to live a peaceful life if you choose to.”
