City People Reveals The Story Of The Star Actor
+His Links With ODUNLADE ADEKOLA
If you are a lover, fan of Yoruba movies or you have been watching lately, either on YouTube, Africa Magic or any streaming platforms, then you will agree that fast rising actor, Babatunde Aderinoye is undoubtedly the face of Nollywood movies now. He is the hottest male actor; probably because of his versatility, or his handsomeness. His simplicity and charisma have paved the way for him. Talking about his delivery too, it’s topnotch.
When asked how acting start for him, Babatunde said “I actually started from church. I was in the church drama group, my church then was Glorious Life Pentecostal Church.
I joined the drama department when I was in J.S.S. 1. Back then, we used to have our rehearsals every Monday night. It got to a point that my parent had to stop me when they realised that it was always affecting me the following day. We will do vigil and I will still have to go to school the following day. I am always very, very tired. I was almost useless every Tuesday. So my parent realised that it was affecting me so they had to stop me, but then I still find my way around it. At everyday of the presentation I will still go and meet the coordinator to ask what I can do. He will give me a role just to partake in it. After then when I moved to University I met a friend of mine who is a director now, Taiwo Egunjobi as at that time he had known what he wanted to do in his life. He knew filmmaking was the path he wanted to go into. He was always producing short, short movies, even skits. So, he would give 1 or 2 parts. I remembered he was the first person that told me that “do you know that there is a posibility this is what you will end up doing”.
Meanwhile, back then my interest in broadcasting was very hot, even while I was in school, I worked with UI Radio Station, “Diamond FM” I think that was how the whole thing started like I said, there is no how I will tell my story without my broadcasting journey. Broadcasting was what I wanted to do. I served in Osun State, I served with Osun State Broadcasting Cooperation. After my Youth Service, I went back to Abeokuta, I was with OGBC.
It was while I was there I enrolled in OAFP, I thought its something I could do side by side, I didn’t know it was not going to be possible, so it got to a point when I had to drop one for another. I miss broadcasting because it’s what I love to do, I am sure I will still find my way there, even if it’s not full time. It’s something I love to do.
That was how I joined OAFP in 2017.
2016 was when I had my interview but I started fully in January 11th, 2017.
There is no day I watch Africa Magic in the last few months now that I will not see you, in many blockbuster movies on YouTube too. How did do it? (Laugh). “It’s not any man’s doing. Apostle Paul says I am what I am by the grace of God. There is a place of hardwork and there is a place for grace.
Being seen is not any man’s doing. Like my boss used to say he will tell you that to become a star is not any man’s doing.
If you work under me and God answers your prayer”, he will tell you it’s God, he only try his best to help you, to improve on your skill.
I remember when I went for my interview at OAFP, they asked me why did I chose OAFP, I told him, I see myself as a raw materials that needed to become a finished product, and I figured out that he’s somebody who already knows the rudiment of the job. He knows how to go about it, he is somebody who is in a place to tutor and to guide. There is also a price to pay, people don’t see when we have to move from one place to another, doing night shootings and all. Moving from one set to another to play your part and you have to deliver. There is a place of hardwork and there is a place of learning to be better. My dream from day 1, is to always be known for quality, not that I just want to feature, not that he’s a fine boy, he is a tall guy, he is a dark skinned guy. Yes, I am grateful for that privileges but then the main goal is the impact that the skill will make.
And so far I have been blessed to be guided by somebody like Odunlade Adekola. I can’t really look for the word to use for him. He has been there, from day one. I always have challenges but no time will I go to him and he will not give me solution that will solve the problem. I am blessed. There is a place of hardwork and there is a place of Grace.
