IBADAN Society Woman, RONKE THOMAS Loses Uncle

A prominent Ibadan society woman, Chief (Mrs) Ronke Thomas is set to host the creme de la creme of the society come Thursday 3rd February 2022. It is the burial of her Uncle, Professor David Kunle Akanbi. Who died on 13th November 2021, at the age of 77.

The week-long burial ceremony will kick off on 31st January 2022, with a Commendation Service at Pioneer Church, Babcock University, Ilisan Remo, Ogun State. There will be another Commendation Service the next day 1st of February, at the Faculty of Education, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State.

By Wednesday, February 2nd, Service of Songs holds on the honour of the deceased, at the Akanhis Compound, No lc, Trinity Baptist Church Street, Ajobo via Arulogun, Ibadan, Oyo State between 4.00 pm and 6:00 pm.

While Baba’s remains would be laid in state in the morning on Thursday, February 3rd, at his residence. Funeral Service comes up afterwards that same Thursday, at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Seventh Day Road, Oke-Bola, Ibadan. After the Funeral Service, Baba’s remains will be laid to rest privately.

The reception of guests is at the Havana Royale Hall, Besides the University of Ibadan. Sango-Ojoo Road, Ibadan.

Top celebrities from different parts of the country are expected to grace the occasion. The party generally is going to be elaborate and colourful. The reason for this is simple, Ronke Thomas is quite popular in Ibadan social establishment and beyond. She is rich, stylish and well connected too. She is a former Lady Captain of the prestigious Ibadan Golf Club and she remains a prominent member of the Club till today. She is the CEO, Ronky Thom Unique Services Limited.

Of course, a good number of highly powerful society women are expected to attend the party, to honour Ronke Thomas. She is well-loved and lovable too. She always supports her friends too. Apart from the Ronke Thomas crowd, the Akanbis are very popular and influential too. The late Professor David Kunle Akanbi was a retired Professor of Educational Technology who had worked passionately in several prestigious universities both within and outside the shores of Nigeria. He was a devoted Christian and an Elder of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and loved ones.
