The Ijebu Boys Association (IJBOYS) has announced the election of a new Executive Council following its general election held on November 22, 2025. The newly elected officers were formally sworn in on December 28, 2025, and will serve a two-year term.
Barrister Olukayode Okenla was elected President, with Otunba Niyi Awonaike as Vice President and Pharm. Adesanwo Adebiyi as Secretary General. Other key officers include Omoba Adetola Odusote, Publicity Secretary, and Barr. Olusegun Ashaye as Legal Secretary.
Additional members of the Executive Council are Omoba Akinwande Adewale, Deputy Head, UK, Alhaji Olamide Okunowo, Financial Secretary; Major Ayodele Okuwa , Head, Strategic Planning (US); Mr. Oludolapo Olusoga, Treasurer (US), Omoba Adewale Odedina, Assistant Secretary General; Mr. Olan Olasimbo, Head, US Chapter; Otunba Babatunde Akintona, Chief Whip; Dr. Sesan Daniels Deputy Head, US Chapter, and Olawale Siyanbola Head UK Chapter; The immediate past President, Mr. Olagbuyi Oduniyi, will serve as a non-officio member of the Council.
Founded in 2016, the Ijebu Boys Association is an elitist, non-profit, non-political philanthropic organisation made up of men who grew up in the Ijebu region of Ogun State in the 1970s and early 1980s. The Association is committed to promoting human and physical development in Ijebu land through educational, economic, and social initiatives, thought leadership, as well as the economic empowerment and welfare of its members.
Over the years, IJBOYS has recorded significant impact across health and economic development sectors. Flagship initiatives include its Annual Three-Day Free Medical Outreach, currently in its 7th edition, which has provided free medical consultations, diagnostics, free medications and free meals to thousands of residents across Ijebuland. The Association has also sponsored Medical Health Insurance coverage for vulnerable members of the community, helping to improve access to quality healthcare.
In further support of the health sector, IJBOYS has made donations of essential drugs to the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH), Sagamu. On the economic front, the Association successfully convened an Economic Summit and Trade Fair in 2025, aimed at stimulating local enterprise, promoting trade, and fostering sustainable economic growth within Ijebuland.
The newly elected Executive Council has pledged to consolidate on these achievements while expanding the Association’s developmental footprint across health, education, and economic empowerment in the years ahead.
In his New Year message, the President, Barr. Kayode Okenla, expressed profound gratitude to all members for their unwavering commitment and dedication to the association, while congratulating them for witnessing the New Year.
He assured members of the Executive Council and the general membership that a new dawn has emerged for the association, particularly in its renewed focus on delivering greater value and impact to Ijebuland.
“The year 2026 is a special one for our great association as we celebrate our 10th Anniversary of remarkable successes and impactful contributions to humanity, the development of Ijebuland, and Idagbasoke Dédé Akílẹ̀ Ìjẹ̀bú. We are fully prepared to lead Ijebuland to greater heights, sustain our vision, and deepen growth and development. Our commitment remains to serve humanity and advance the collective interests of our members,” Barr. Okenla stated.
