Merenda Lasbat presides the first plenary, reshuffles cabinet

The newly elected first female speaker in the history of Lagos State House of Assembly, Mojisola Lasbat Meranda has presided today as the first female speaker of Lagos State Assembly.
The speaker was accompanied into the chamber along with the acting clerk, a female sergeant at arms who carried the maze, today plenary started by reshuffling the cabinet.
Meranda now announced Temitope Adewale Adeniji (Ifako Jaiye Constituency 1), as the new Majority leader, Sanni Okanlawon ( Kosofe Constituency 2), as the new Deputy Whip, David Setonji ( Badagry constituency 2), as new Chief Whip and Richard Kasumu (Ikeja constituency 1) as new Deputy Majority leader.
Members of the selection committee are:
the Deputy Speaker, Fatai Majeed, majority leader, Adedamola Kasumu, Chief Whip, David Setonji, Gbolahan Ishau, Musbau Lawal while the active clerk, Abubakar Taiwo Ottun will be the secretary of the committee.
Meanwhile, Hon. Olumoh Sa’ad (Ajeromi Ifelodun constituency 1) Hon. Olotu Emmanuel (Ifako Ijaye 2) joined their voice of vote today
She assured that her administration will focus on working together for a better Lagos to work harmoniously with other arms of government to ensure a seamless delivery of dividends of democracy.
“as we begin this new chapter in the history of our assembly, we will work to ensure that irrespective of gender, education, religion and ethics, or background, every Lagos President is proud to say, I am a reduction the sanctity between us and the other act of government is crucial in regards to effective government and democratic development.
She said, “ To achieve this, we must commit to maintaining open lines of communication with the executive arms, led by Mister Governor, fostering a spirit of cooperation allowable deeds and mutual respect in our relations with one another.
By doing so, we can and must ensure that our state action is aligned with the executive vision for a better state, for the good people of the state, so that we all can leave the state far better than we met it, we will prioritize leaving the past behind and forging ahead.”
She promised not to dwell on past controversies or disagreements, but instead focus on the great and pressing tax ahead, which is delivering better services to the people of Lagos” We will strive to create a more inclusive and appropriate Democrat democracy where every citizen feels valued, respected and empowered.
“ Dear colleagues, we have a lot to do to achieve this vision. There is no stigmatization among us. We are one, and that is where we derive the strength to take beautiful steps the others is therefore on us to focus on several key areas to strengthen legislative independence.
“Will be a top priority, ensuring that our institution remains robust and substance-driven. We will promote transparency, accountability in government, ensuring that our actions are guided by the principle of integrity, fairness and justice.
“ As we begin this new chapter, let us be reminded that we are not just loving us, but also leaders. We must live by example, demonstrating the values of integrity, transparency and accountability that we expect from others.
“As speaker, I commit to prioritizing the needs of our constituents through you, we want To ensure that our united voice are heard. Their concerns are addressed, and their welfare is projected.
“ Our goal is to create a more inclusive and participatory democracy where citizens are actively engaged in decision-making processes that impact their lives.
