How TONY ASPIRE Emerged
There was tension before the last Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria, Lagos Chapter election. The tension was between the Consolidation Team and Transformation Team. They both wanted their candidates to fill the vacant post left by Dr Bamidele Onalaja.
The Consolidation Team had Mr Segun Osundairo, while the Tranformation team had Tony Aspire Kolawole, as candidate.
So it was a battle of 2 groups and one had to pull out citing foul play etc. There was even a release by one of the aggrieved groups who felt things should be done according to the constitution of the association.
Going by the report, “The leadership of the Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria (REDAN), Lagos Chapter, has decried an orchestrated plan to hijack and absorb some charlatans into the association.
It further stated that many realtors with non-existent identities and names had massively been fraudulently registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission, in order to manipulate the electoral process for the successor to Onalaja, the outgoing Chairman and his executive members.
“It is pertinent to state that REDAN as the principal agency and umbrella body of the organised real estate sector, recognized by the Central and States Government of Nigeria, does not admit Realtors as its members due to differences in objectives and responsibilities.”
“To execute their devious ploy, we have discovered that the upcoming election has been scheduled to take place in Oyo State, in clear violation of the association’s constitution.”
The association further called on both Lagos and Oyo State Governments, as well as REDAN’s Board of Trustees to take immediate action and stop this travesty, which if allowed to happen will largely erase the achievements and successes REDAN, Lagos Chapter has recorded since its inception in 2020.
But this release was immediately countered by the national President Prince Akintoye Adeoye, who said the Tuesday 16th of April election would take place. He also said that such allegations be addressed later.
Shortly after this, the consolidation team announced the were pulling out of REDAN, that they won’t take part in the election that took place a few days back that produced the new Lagos REDAN Chairman, Mr Tony Aspire Kolawole.
The National President has formed Reconciliation Committee to address some of the aggrieved members.
According to the press release: It is with great pleasure that I write to inform you about the formation of a Reconciliation Committee, which has been established to address grievances that emerged during our recent election held in the Redan South West Zone. This committee aims to foster unity and resolve any conflicts among members, allowing us to work together harmoniously towards our shared goals.
The National President has set up a reconciliation committee that will unite other aggrieved member. “ The Reconciliation Committee will be chaired by Are Adetola Emmanuel King, GMD Adron Homes, a distinguished member with vast experience and relationships that cut across divides. Mr. Jide Ogunleye FCA, has been appointed as the Secretary of the committee. Additionally, I have also appointed Surv. Kazeem Ajiborode, immediate past Chairman of the Ondo State Chapter as a member. To provide valuable guidance, Festus Adebayo Esq has graciously accepted the role of Adviser to the Committee.
The primary objective of the Reconciliation Committee is to listen to the concerns and grievances of our esteemed members and recommend what to do to reunite stronger and better.
I encourage all members who feel aggrieved to come forward and share their concerns with the Reconciliation Committee. It is through open dialogue, understanding, and compromise that we can strengthen our Association and overcome any obstacles that hinder our progress”.
The Reconciliation Committee will begin its work immediately and submit its report on or before the 30th of April, 2024.
In conclusion, I believe that the establishment of the Reconciliation Committee marks a significant step towards resolving any issues that arose during the recent election.
The New Lagos REDAN Chairman, Tony Kolawole has also said he would work with everyone and he would also like to unite everyone and bring everyone together under one roof.
