Ahead of the March 9 Guber elections, the Lagos state All Progressives Congress governorship candidate Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu has revealed that his team is more experienced in running Lagos than any other opposition party in the state.
Mr Sanwo-Olu said this at a live interview on TVC on Thursday in the company of his running mate, Dr Obafemi Hamzat and the Minister of Works Power and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola.
While answering questions on the experience of the APC candidates, the former Governor of Lagos, Fashola said “Babajide’s manpower training during the Asiwaju era has brought people from the private sector to the public sector in Lagos.
“The opposition is clamouring for freedom but if I may ask, freedom from what? Nobody called for freedom when Lagos was denied its federal allocation during the Asiwaju regime, nobody called for freedom when Lagos created and was donating into the security trust fund for the Nigerian police, a federal parastatal in the state, so we should question the freedom slogan again and again.
“The Sanwo-Olu/Hamzat team has fought tirelessly for the people of Lagos. Lagosians must remember that the choice of Saturday’s election is between the protectors of Lagos and its aggressors. If I were them, I will vote for my protectors,” Fashola said.
Mr Sanwo-Olu while also answering questions from the anchor said “to say that Lagos is the 5th largest city in the world is not just about population but also, development and growth. We have contributed intellectually to the growth of Lagos right from the days of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu down to H/E, Babatunde Fashola and this current administration. We are reforming the state, bringing in new ideas and running a 21st century governance in Lagos.
Answering questions about ethnicity and the position of the Igbo traders in Lagos, Mr Sanwo-Olu retorted that it is the people of low minds that are bringing in divisive means into the state. He stated categorically that if elected, his government shall be all inclusive.
Meanwhile, Dr Hamzat, a trained engineer further reiterated that infrastructural building projects of the state will enable engineering students
