Preliminary Report/Post Disaster Assessment of the Fire Incident at an Illicit Storage Facility at 84/85 Kudirat Abiola Way, Oregun
The agency received distress calls about a fire outbreak at the above mentioned location at approximately 11am.
A combined response team of Lagos State Fire Service, LRT, Anti Vandal unit of NNPC and the NSCDC worked to extinguish the fire.
Investigation revealed that ILLICIT STORAGE and handling of diesel on the open fenced land led to the outbreak. It was also confirmed that this premise has been used for this business for some years.
The post disaster assessment revealed that there were 7 plastic storage containers, 25 drums, 3 storage tankers, 1 articulated tanker and 6 buses used for the illicit storage and transportation of diesel. The premises have been sealed and handed over to NSCDC for further investigation.
While the situation has been brought under control, residents are reminded of the need to take responsibility with respect to life and properties and report such instances to the authorities.
