On Tuesday, 20th December, 2022, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) had its maiden Christmas Carol Service. It was held within the premises of the Command & Control Centre of LASEMA, Governors Avenue Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos and it was themed “The Prince Of Peace”. The Special Guest of Honour was Dr. (Mrs.) Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, the First Lady of Lagos State.
There were invited Gospel artistes like Aduke Gold, Ayanfe Jesu, Femi Okunuga, and the likes to add colour to the evening, while there were top government functionaries in attendance.
The Carol started with Praise and Worship from the LASEMA Choir, the Host Choir, while Aduke Gold also gave a superlative performance.
Opening prayer was taken according to the order of service. The Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, Dr. Oluwafemi Damilola Osanyintolu took the Welcome address. He welcomed the guests and appreciated their presence and acknowledged the staff for their great and active performance and strength throught the year. He commended the Director of Administration of LASEMA for the making and planning of the carol. He also acknowledged his wife Dr. Mojisola Adeyanju Oke Osanyintolu.
He mentioned how LASEMA arrived at the theme “The Prince Of Peace”. He said it was revealed to them from the Holy Bible in Isaiah 9 vs 6: ‘For into us a child is born, into us a son is given: and the government shall be upon this shoulders: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, “The Prince of Peace” He gave thanks to God for the safety of all the staff and for making them to undergo all the year’s activities in peace. He shows Gratitude and acknowledged God’s doing and God unconditional love for the LASEMA staff.
He also said LASEMA has been in the service of humanity for the past 15 years of working round the clock to save life and property. He said, everything was accomplished with God’s grace and God is their strong tower and he said they are ready to keep doing their work every second, every minutes, every hour, everyday. He acknowledged the Technical and Logistic department.
Thereafter, LASEMA choir sang “ O come all ye faithfull”. Meanwhile Aduke Gold stormed the stage with her band and rendered the ministration, and Ayanfe Jesu also performed and everyone was overwhelmed. Mr. Femi Okunuga also performed at the event, and the Permanent Secretary danced with full joy in his mind and everybody also danced with great happiness.
Meanwhile, LASEMA had it’s own exhortation ministration of Praise and worship, and the Permanent Secretary was very happy and he joked that “emi na ma di Choirmaster” which means “I will also become Choirmaster” Later, the great words of God came from the mouth of Pastor Gbenga Okunade Samuel. He talked about the birth of Jesus Christ and the significance of it. The guests and the staaff of LASEMA had a great Christmas carol, and it was one of its kind. The LASEMA Choir sang the Christmas medley “Feliz Navidad” as the guests were exchanging greetings and exhortations. Thereafter was the departure of guests and staff members.
