The people of Iwo have turned out in their thousands to protest against the purported plan by some chiefs and key persons in the town to dethrone the Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi. This was following the visit of the Osun State governor, Adegboyega Oyetola to the palace.
No fewer than 22 Iwo chiefs under the aegis of the Iwo Traditional Chiefs, on Monday, asked the Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola, to reject the call by some kingmakers for the removal of the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi.
Oluwo in the early hours of Tuesday, 29 September 2020, posted videos of protesting community members and stated:
The Judgement of the king will be in the hands of the people and that will be judged by how he leads them…. this is my day of judgement in the hands of my people and the judgement is…. The people showed their love and Solidarity to their king .
