As part of ongoing efforts to improve the smooth movement, identification, and welfare of Nigerian pilgrims during the Hajj exercise, the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria has emphasised the importance of the newly introduced Nusuk Card, describing it as a mandatory access pass to all major holy sites in Makkah and Madinah under the current pilgrimage arrangement.

The Federal Commissioner for Operation and Licensing of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria has urged Nigerian pilgrims to take the newly introduced Nusuk Card seriously, describing it as a critical travel and identification document for accessing all approved spiritual sites during Hajj.

Speaking during an interview session, he explained that the card is part of a pilot initiative currently being implemented for Nigerian pilgrims, with some cards distributed in Nigeria as a test phase.

“At this stage, we are running a pilot scheme. Some Nusuk Cards have been distributed in Nigeria as a test run, while others will be issued upon arrival in Madinah,” he said.

According to him, the initiative is aimed at improving the identification, movement, and access of pilgrims to key religious sites in Makkah and Madinah.

“The Nusuk Card is very important because it serves as a pass to all spiritual locations, including the Haram in Makkah, Madinah, and other designated sites. Without it, access to these places will not be possible,” he explained.

He warned that pilgrims must ensure the card is always in their possession to avoid unnecessary embarrassment or restriction of movement during the pilgrimage.

“Pilgrims must keep their Nusuk Card safely and ensure they carry it at all times. It is required for boarding buses, accessing services, and entry into holy sites, including movement to Madinah and Arafat,” he added.

He further stressed that the card is not just an identity document but a mandatory pass that facilitates the entire Hajj experience.

“The Nusuk Card is essentially your access key to all spiritual activities. Without it, movement becomes difficult, and participation in key rites may be affected,” he said.

He advised pilgrims to take personal responsibility for safeguarding the card throughout their stay in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
