Sunday 11th, Dec., 2022 marked a new beginning for the people of Ogombo Land in Eti-Osa East Local Council Development Area of Lagos State, as they trooped out in their numbers to celebrate the coronation of the first traditional ruler of the community, Oba Muslim Ogunbo.
Speaking during the occasion in Ogombo, the Lagos State governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, described it as an historical event as the first coronation ceremony for the first traditional ruler in the community. Sanwo-Olu was represented by the state Commissioner for Home Affairs, Mr Anofiu Elegushi.
Sanwo-Olu, who congratulated Oba Ogunbo on his ascension to the throne, assured that his administration would always work hand-in-hand with the traditional ruler to ensure that the welfare of the people is given adequate attention.
The governor also urged the traditional ruler to use his office to advise the people to ensure a collection of their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the 2023 general elections. Sanwo-Olu reiterated his support to the community and added that “the whole community came together to install you as king, may there not be a reason for them to come together to dethrone you.” In his remarks, Ogunbo assured that his reign would ensure peace and stability in the Lagos community.
The traditional ruler called on Nigerians to imbibe the virtue of peace and unity, saying it is capable of ensuring growth and success in any community.
He appreciated his community members, the young and old for their cooperation and support so far. He also appreciated Sanwo-Olu and all community leaders in Eti-Osa Local Government Area for identifying with the community.
“I congratulate all Ogombo indigenouss for this historical moment. From our fathers to our youths and to our mothers, this would not have been possible without their prayers, support and most importantly, their sacrifice.
“I also appreciate my family for standing by me all through the period and being a pillar of moral support,” he said.
The dignataries at the event included the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, represented by Oba Adebisi Layede; Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi and Oba Saheed Elegushi of Ikate Land among others. Ogunbo became the first traditional ruler of Ogombo since it was founded on Oct. 4, 1873.
Before his enthronement, Ogunbo was the traditional head (Baale) of the community.

No wonder today he sits on the most coveted traditional stool as the Crown King of Ogombo Kingdom HRM Oba Muslim Abiodun Ogunbo was born on 24th of October to the family of Nurat Ogunbo and Ayuba Ogunbo in Ogombo in the same year his mates were born in the community However, he did not enjoy too much luxury of parenting having lost his parents within a short space of one year at a very tender age of 10 years. This reality added additional challenge to his struggle to attain his dreams To the glory of God, his kind hearted uncle, Alhaji Kehinde Oseni Ogunbo, stepped into his life and, became his foster father. He took over the responsibility of grooming and bringing up the young Muslim Abiodun Ogunbo without any form of discrimination or maltreatment upon the passage of Kabiyesi’s parents. Thus, it is fitting to say that Alhaji Kehinde Oseni Ogunbo with the assistance of Almighty God moulded Oba Abiodun Ogunbo to what he has become today.
Despite the early setback in his life, young kabiyesi did not allowed it to weighed him down or vitiate his dreams and outlook to life. Unlike many who will use the death of their parents as an excuse of not succeeding in life, instead kabiyesi used his own situation as a motivation to aspire to a greater heights in life. After his education, Kabiyesi veered into the property world where he made his name and carved a niche for himself. Today the company he birthed, Ashela Properties Limited, a company founded and run on
the cardinal principles of integrity, propriety, efficient service delivery and customer satisfaction is now industry leader and household name in real estate business in Nigeria.
Aside Ashela Properties Limited, Kabiyesi is also the founder and directing mind of Ashe1a Furniture Limited, among other several businesses he founded. Oba Muslim Abiodun Oganbo is an entrepreneur par excellence, a visionary, an investor, a trail blazer who dreams big and pursues his dreams with single-mindedness.
Kabiyesi is a wealth creator, a strategist, a philanthropist, community leader and peace-loving. Aside his entrepreneurial calling, Kabiyesi is a dutiful and dedicated family man, married to Olori Rafiat Anuoluwapo Ogunbo and blessed with children. Kabiyesi is an ardent lover of his people and community. While cutting his teeth in service of making his community better. Oba Muslim Abiodun Ogunbo learnt apprenticeship in community service from the elders before him. He was always with them each time they go about the affairs of the Ogombo community. He was not the type that shy away from making himself available for service to his people or community. Having been found worthy by the elders and other members of the Ogombo community, he was appointed family secretary of Ogudu Chieftaincy family (Now Ogudu Royal family), a position he occupied for many years until providence saddled him with the position of the Baale of Ogombo.
It is to Kabiyei’s eternal credit that he took giant strides to get the Baaleship of Ogombo elevated and gazetted by the Lagos State Government as a government recognized Baale in Lagos State. In their gratitude to him for his unequalled role and contribution to the development of Ogombo Community and his philanthropy to the people of Ogombo and even beyond, the young and old with unanimity chose Muslim Abiodun Ogunbo as the Oba of Ogombo Kingdom. In his usual pragmatism, Kabiyesi took decisive action to pursue the creation of the position of Oba of Ogombo with the Lagos State Government.
Whatever Kabiyesi touches turns to Gold. This magic wand and spirit of Kabiyesi has now found expression in the life-long dream of the Ogombo Community that one day, their traditional stool would be elevated to Oba status. The man of the moment, the man of the people, the man of a few words but action minded, HRM, Oba Muslim Abiodun Ogunbo has made it happen.
Ogombo now has an Oba, a crowned King for that matter, in person of Alaiyeluwa Oba Muslim Abiodun Ogunbo. Kabiyesi is indeed seen by many as a blessing to Ogombo community, through his visionary, purposeful, and action- centred leadership. This has really changed the story of the community for good. There by making every son’s and daughter’s of Ogombo to be proud of their community. Despited his overflowing portfolio, Kabiyesi recognizes that Security is the bedrock and catalyst for socioeconomic development.
Hence, he is the Chairman of Police Community Relations Committee of the Nigeria Police Force, Ogombo, Eti-Osa Local Government of Lagos State where he has been contributing his quota by ensuring the police personnel are adequately motivated and also ensuring that both police and the community have a cordial relationship.
