•With FAYEMI & GBAJABIAMILA’s Support For Gov. WIKE
The confusion that trailed the Rivers State chapter of All Progressives’ Congress (APC) since 2015 to date has been blamed on the activities of members who connived with the other political parties to deny APC participation in the past elections. The Director General Rivers State Non-Indigenes Group For Asiwaju (RISNGA), Dr. Adeleke Prince Jones, told newsmen at a news conference held at Saint Paul’s Cathedral of the Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion Garrison, Rebisi, Port Harcourt that there were many false allegations of discrepancies between APC at state and national levels.
He said there was an allegation that the APC at National level was not supporting the party at the state level. Jones urged APC Rivers State members not to fall for the gimmicks of opponents who were using publicity to weaken the strength of the party in the state”.
“We are not surprised by the kind of politics being played in Rivers State. We are not deaf to the rumour being spread in the public domain by some political elements who think they can deter us from our focus and cause disunity in the body of APC both in the state and at the national level. For all the negative publicity against the leader of APC Rivers State, I wish to emphasis that the APC in Rivers State created the vacuum, that opponents are using by advantage to creating disunity. But here we are today to change the narrative and restore the glory of our leader, the Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, in the state. For we now know that, we will walk with our shoulders high in expectation that all our candidates in the forth coming elections in Rivers State will also get to their places.”
At the news conference, various APC office seekers to the National Assembly, State Assembly and the governorship candidate were introduced. Honourable Waserete Douglas, represented Pastor Architect Tonye Cole, the governorship candidate. Professor Lawrence Chuku State, a State House of Assembly candidate spoke eloquently and challenged those who claimed to be working with the APC at the national level to face their new political party. He said that they could not be in one and be campaigning for another party’s presidential candidate. Prof. Chuku said that Senator Abe and his followers visited Asiwaju and requested N50m monthly. He explained why Rivers State APC chapter loyalists of Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi were not happy with national headquarters on the visit of the Speaker, Federal House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, to commission a project in the state. He said that they were equally not happy that Ekiti State former Governor, Kayode Fayemi, who facilitated South Western APC governors’ visit to Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, did not consult the Rivers State APC members and the executive loyal to Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi. Prof. Chuku reiterated that “Gov. Wike is a fearful person saying he arranges such visits to boost his ego and enrich his political value, which he had lost during the PDP presidential primary election.
Dr. Prince Adeleke Jones, RISNIGA’s leader said: “They want us to believe that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is working with them. They want us to believe that Tinubu is funding them against us in the APC. They made a charade publicity to weaken our party. They want to deter, perturb and disorganize us. But we are not disturbed because we re aware of their plots.
“We know that they are using some people in government as mercenary working tirelessly, flying into Abuja while no attention has been given to them. We also know that they have never got Asiwaju’s attention and would never get his attention. We know Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu from his antecedents. He cannot and will not work against his party.
“On this note, we wish to reiterate that the APC Professional Council and other support groups are for ASIWAJU/SHETIMA, TONYE COLE/BARIKOR, the 3 senatorial candidates, the 13 Federal House of Representatives and 32 State House of Assembly candidates. We know for sure that our dividend lies in their success; we will work for their victory.”
Asiwaju branded bottled water was distributed for free at the various 23 Local Government Areas and 319 electoral wards and at the 4442 Polling Units in Rivers State. The occasion witnessed the presence of seasoned Labour leader in Rivers State, Sam Accra Jaja, founder of Sam Jaja Foundation. Former Chairman Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) Rivers State, Odenigbo Elder and Youth Forum For Good Governance leader, Honourable Professor Lawrence Chuku, Hon. Maclean Franklyn Uranta, Alex Weher a former Special Assistant to Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, now APC Rivers State House of Assembly candidate among others. There are over 26, 979 members of Rivers State Non-Indigene Group For Asiwaju (RISNIGA) that have spread across the 4442 Polling Units, 319 electoral wards and 23 Local Government Areas all in Rivers State. The body also has 45 executives in 23 LGAs and 45 executives in the 319 wards which have made RISNIGA one of the most successful well spread APC political pressure groups in Rivers State South-South Nigeria.
