The Sam Daddy Media Centre heartily hails the landmark judgment delivered by the Federal High Court sitting in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Friday, January 30, 2026, which rightly nullified the purported National Convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) held in Ibadan on November 15, 2025.
The court, in its well-considered and courageous decision, affirmed that the Caretaker Committee led by Alhaji Abdulrahman Mohammed, Chairman, and Distinguished Senator Samuel Anyanwu, National Secretary, remains the only recognised National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party, pending the conduct of a valid and lawful National Convention in line with the party’s constitution and due process.
While voiding the Ibadan gathering as illegal, unlawful, and of no effect whatsoever, the court further barred Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, and others from parading themselves as national officers of the party. This ruling has once again reinforced the supremacy of the rule of law, internal democracy, and constitutional order within political parties in Nigeria.
Sam Daddy Media Centre congratulates the entire PDP family, party faithfuls, and well-meaning Nigerians on this well-deserved victory, which clearly places the party back on the path of legality, unity, and progress. This judgment is not just a victory for the PDP, but for democracy itself.
We therefore call on all PDP members across the federation to remain united, calm, and steadfast, rally behind the legally recognised leadership, and continue to work collectively for the rebuilding, repositioning, and strengthening of the party as it gears up towards the 2027 general elections.
The future of the PDP is brighter when anchored on truth, justice, and unity.
