Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Wednesday inaugurated 20 coordinators for the Renewed Hope Ambassadors initiative, a grassroots engagement project designed to communicate the policies and programmes of President Bola Tinubu to residents across the state.

This was disclosed in a statement by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akoshile.

It was stated that the governor also donated 20 vehicles to support the coordinators’ activities in their respective Local Government Areas.

Cornelius Ojelabi, during the inauguration of Local Government Coordinators of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, in Lagos

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony held at 10 Degrees Event Centre, Oregun, Ikeja, Sanwo-Olu said the initiative was aimed at deepening public awareness of the Tinubu administration’s reforms and achievements rather than launching a political campaign.

“This project is an activation of our resolution and commitment to the belief we hold dear. It is an activation of like minds who believe in the message of Renewed Hope of our leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” the governor said.

“Today, we appoint Local Government coordinators for Renewed Hope Ambassadors in Lagos; they have been chosen to populate the achievements of the Tinubu administration.

“The aim of this project is not to kick off any campaign, but to create awareness about the successes we have seen in the last three years. These ambassadors will go from neighbourhood to neighbourhood to let people be aware of the commitments given by the President and what has been delivered so far. The aim is to ensure the messages are communicated to all citizens in their languages.”

Sanwo-Olu said the project would focus on grassroots mobilisation, public sensitisation and direct engagement with communities across Lagos.

He attributed recent economic developments to the Federal Government’s reform agenda, stating that fiscal and monetary measures had stabilised key indicators.

“The financial reengineering and reforms initiated by the Tinubu administration have helped to bring down the debt burden on our country significantly, while also stabilising the Forex market. Workers are now earning new minimum wage with improved welfare benefits, just as food prices are crashing,” he said.

The governor also cited ongoing infrastructure projects, including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the Sokoto-Badagry Highway.

“He told us he would construct the 700km Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway. Today, the project has gone beyond 400km and is moving fast to completion. The President promised he would do Sokoto-Badagry Highway; the project is ongoing at the moment,” Sanwo-Olu added.

Chief of Staff to the Governor, Tayo Ayinde, who was named to lead the coordinators’ activities, said the movement was designed for civic engagement rather than political campaigning.

Ayinde urged the ambassadors to promote government programmes responsibly and serve as a bridge between citizens and policy initiatives.

He said the coordinators were expected to disseminate information on government policies and national developments across markets, campuses and communities.

The event drew the attendance of party leaders, members of the Governance Advisory Council, cabinet members, lawmakers, traditional rulers, traders’ representatives and youth groups
