Looks like a new trend is in. It’s called ‘Breadcrumbling’. I had no idea what it meant when I first heard it, and thought it involved cooking.
Apparently, it means an act of sending out flirtatious, but non-committal text messages (i.e. breadcrumbs) in order to lure a sexual partner without expending much effort.
You give someone just enough – a morsel – to stay interested and keeping coming back to you.
Until last year everybody was talking about ghosting, and now the trend has become ‘breadcrumbing’. Does it just get worse and worse?
What happened to the good old fashioned dates?
Is everyone too tired to deal with people in real life that it came this far? Where have the real connections gone?
People don’t want to be in a real relationship because it takes a lot of energy and effort, but people still crave attention. They want to be able to flirt and text. No strings attached. It’s easy for the person that does the breadcrumbing because they just text when they feel like. On the opposite end, if someone is breadcrumbing on you and you have feelings for them, it will feel MISERABLE.
It looks like everyone in this generation has become scared to show their emotions and vulnerability because they think this means showing weakness. We shouldn’t be scared of showing emotions and vulnerability to others because that’s what makes us human. If we lose that ability, we risk becoming somewhat heartless.
I’m an old soul and it’s hard for me to understand people who can do such a thing as breadcrumbing. I could never play dirty games like that.
Sometimes I wish I wasn’t a millennial because it feels like it’s so hard to find real love out there. Though I still believe that one day I will come across a person with the same perspective as me. And at least I can rest easy knowing I won’t be ‘breadcrumbing’ anybody.
