Tola Oyediran, Awolowo’s first daughter, dies at 79

Eldest daughter of the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Reverend Tola Oyediran, has passed on. She was aged 79.

Reverend Oyediran who got married to Professor A. B. O. Oyediran, former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, was reported to have died in her sleep on Friday.

Oyediran, the former Chairman of Nigerian Tribune, was expected to mark her 80th birthday on December 1.

With her death, Dr Olatokunbo Awolowo-Dosunmu now remains the only surviving child of the Awolowo dynasty. (Nigerian Monitor)
