As COVID-19, otherwise known as coronavirus continues to ravage around the world, many anointed men of God has declared prayers against this pandemic and has also advised their members and Nigerians as a whole on what to do concerning the global outbreak. City People Society Editor, TAYO FAJORIN OYEDIJI brings you excerpts from what Top pastors have said below.
PASTOR EA ADEBOYE
As the dreaded coronavirus was recently confirmed in Nigeria sending many people into jitters, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, (RCCG), Pastor E.A Adeboye has assured his members of their safety. Daddy G.O as he is fondly called said it is time for God to show the difference between those serving him and those that are not.
Quoting Psalm 91, Pastor Adeboye assured RCCG members the coronavirus, though in the country, will not come near them. In his own words”
“I want to assure you that there’s no virus that will come near you at all. Because it is written that those that dwell in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I want to believe this is time for God to show clearly there’s a difference between those who serve Him wholeheartedly and those who do not.
Speaking at the Church’s live broadcast on Sunday, Adeboye said genuine children of God, who are not appointed to die now should relax because God will keep them safe.
Citing Ezekiel chapter 2 verses 5, during his sermon titled “Peace Be Still” Adeboye said:
“When I spoke to my daddy about my pains on those who are dying of the virus around the world, He assured me that; only those whose appointed time has come will die, so when your appointed time has not come, relax and enjoy your holiday.”According to him, the world is having a holiday now because God wants us all to know that He is still the Almighty God.
“ I told you earlier that the whole world will be on compulsory holiday so that they will know that God is still in charge.”
PASTOR DK OLUKOYA
Dr Daniel Olukoya, the General Overseer of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM), has advised Nigerians not to panic over the deadly coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The popular clergyman counselled Nigerians in a statement by his Media Office Olukoya said: “I urge all Christians and men of faith, irrespective of denomination and religion to pray the following prayers to receive protection and healing from the virus and other pestilences likely to come this year.”
Quoting from 3John 1:2, he advised: “These prayers should be done along with the officially released hygiene and sanitation protocols.”According to Olukoya, the federal and state governments were doing so much to contain the coronavirus. He has also released a set for prayers for its members and other interested members of the public for the battle against the pandemic.
“Are you scared of the trending coronavirus? Worry no more, as God has not given us the spirit of fear but of love, power and sound mind,” the Church said in the introduction to the 40-point prayer point against the pandemic published as an advertorial in some newspapers on Sunday.
“In view of this, the Mountain! of Fire and Miracle Ministries, MFM, under the guidance of its General Overseer, Dr. D. K. Olukoya ( himself a scientist and a prophet of God) having considered all involved and under the leading of the Holy Spirit is urging all Christians and Men of Faith, irrespective of denomination and religion, to pray the following prayers to receive protection and healing from the virus and other pestilences likely to come this year,” the church added. However, the Ministry said the 40 prayers is to be preceded by a confession of the Book of John 3 verses 1 and 2.
Pastor William Kumuyi of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry said that the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic will soon be over asking people to “repent of your sins”. The septuagenarian made this known on a Sunday on his known Twitter handle while praying for tranquillity.’’This world will soon end, and we must not live our lives as if there is not an end to the life of sinning. JESUS is Coming very soon. Are you ready? Repent of your sins and believe on the LORD Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Saviour. HE will come and save you. Shalom! Pastor Kumuyi urges Nigerians to remain steadfast with God and very soon the coronavirus epidemic that put the whole world in a siege.
PASTOR PAUL ENENCHE
Paul Enenche, the Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, also reacted to the entrance of Coronavirus in Nigeria. Enenche declared that Coronavirus has no place in Nigeria and the world in general. Addressing his members during the church’s monthly vigil in Abuja, the clergyman declared that the deadly disease is dead on arrival. According to Enenche, the same way the disease came, so shall it depart.
He said: “Coronavirus has no place in this nation, as it came so shall it depart. It shall not stay in this nation or the world, I declare its dead in Jesus name.
“I declare by the mantle of God on my life this nation is matching into a celebration in the month of March.”The Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Dr Paul Enenche, has declared that the victory of mankind of the scourge of coronavirus is insight.
He said the days of the deadly virus, which has killed thousands of persons are numbered as the Lord would surely show himself strong in the midst of the global pandemic. The cleric made these declarations in a video posted on his official Facebook page Monday afternoon.
He said, “We are with a world of assurance, word of encouragement and a word of decree over your life. Exodus 23:25 says: And ye shall serve the Lord your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee.
“In the name that is above every other name, all you need to do is to serve God for real. Be real and genuine with God and the plague of coronavirus is never your portion.
“And to you coronavirus, your days are numbered; you have no place in our planet. The blood of Jesus is against you. As rapidly and mysteriously as you arrived, so shall you rapidly disappear.
“Please, make sure that there is no trace fear or timidity. Before the devil can introduce anything he introduces fear. You are preserved, the wind of evil that brought this is returned to hell.
“Fear kills more than coronavirus or HIV. Don’t allow fear to take you out. Charge your heart, mind and life with faith provoking-scriptures. The faith you build in times of peace is what will answer in times of crisis.”People have been hypothesizing that it is a manufactured virus and the Bible says No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn.”I can assure you that tell or head, we win.”
PASTOR SAM ADEYEMI
The Senior Pastor of Daystar Christian Centre, Sam Adeyemi, also asked Nigerians to stay at home amid the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic. Adeyemi, one of the most recognisable preachers in Nigeria urged all and sundry not to “use announced figures to measure the spread of the virus”. He also affirmed on his verified Twitter handle on Tuesday that the current ordeal “will pass”. Please stay home now if you are in Nigeria, especially Lagos. Don’t use announced figures to measure the spread of the virus. They’re 1 to 2 weeks behind reality because testing follows strict guidelines. This will pass, but we must limit the impact. Have faith and take cover!
Earlier, the motivational speaker labelled covid-19 “an enemy”. #COVIDü019 is an enemy that is not discriminating based on our region or religion in wanting to take us out. Can we see how irrelevant the things that divide us are? Hoping we come through this experience fighting poverty, disease, ignorance, underdevelopment, etc. together. On how best to handle the current condition, the 53-year-old encouraged humanity to “approach the situation with humility and empathy, pray for wisdom and apply the solutions that emerge with diligence”. #COVIDü019 reminds us that as powerful as we are as humans, we have limitations. We must approach the situation with humility and empathy, pray for wisdom and apply the solutions that emerge with diligence. Also, we can only win together. Let’s bury our pride and prejudices.
BISHOP DAVID OYEDEPO
Bishop Oyedepo On Sunday during one of his services prayed against coronavirus.” Corona, it is enough! pray against recurrence of Lagos explosion and all satanic assaults. Join me and push back the plague of Coronavirus from here. You foul spirit from hell, get out from the Planet Now. Be cast back into the sea. We decree that you cease Today. Corona, go back to where you came from. We cast you out of the Planet Earth. We decree an end to your scourge. We decree an end to your assault. get out of every continent on the planet Earth. Release the human race! Let them go for free. Thank you, Jesus. Blessed be your name”
The Lord said “stay thou your hand, it is enough” The cleric said to his congregation. “You are not permitted to destroy this race, the human race is greater than what can be destroyed by you. Therefore, thou foul spirit called Corona, get out of the planet Earth, be cast into the sea and be flooded away forever, every continent is declared free by the Blood of Jesus. thank you father, we will hear good news. the scourge is over. the assault is over in Jesus precious name.
The cleric also led his congregation on a prayer about the safety of Nigeria “Help me secure the state of Nigeria. Lift up your two hands. Every assault of the wicked ceases now. Houses were blown up, multitudes destroyed. Ask the Lord, by the Blood of Jesus, we decree the security of the Nigerian State against all satanic assaults”.Thank you Jesus. By the Blood, we cover Nigeria from every satanic devastating event in the name of Jesus. Blessed be your name. IT’S DONE. Nigeria is safe. No more accidents, no more assaults of the wicked in Jesus precious name. Amen”
Rev. Father Ejike Mbaka, the Spiritual Director of Adoration Ministry in Enugu has said the deadly Coronavirus (COVID-19) will die out like Ebola. The excerpts was from the weekly Wednesday’s gathering at the Adoration. The outspoken Catholic priest disclosed that the coronavirus will soon go back. In the statement obtained by this Father Mbaka said: “Children of God When you go home, circulate the message that a man of God known as Fr. EjikeMbaka told you not to be afraid of coronavirus. Be courageous it will soon be a thing of the past,” the cleric was quoted by the news medium to have said.
“Fear is a dangerous omen if you become perplexed over it, it shows that you don’t believe so much on God’s power. Ebola came, it died off, this one will also die off. It is like bird flu disease, it will come and go.”I know that the whole world is waiting to hear from the message that will come out from this place, but the message I have is that the disease will soon go.
‘Under the priestly anointing, I release healing to the entire world, particularly where the disease is ravaging so much, let there be healing, let there be sunray always, which is one of the antidotes to the disease. God release drug that will cure it in Jesus name AMEN,” Mbaka said.
PASTOR ITUAH IGHODALO
The Senior Pastor of Trinity House, ItuahIghodalo also spoke on the coronavirus pandemic. Talking about the beauty of home fellowship, streaming live few weeks ago, Pastor Ituah said, Please obey the government and follow through the process, it is a time for reflection, Ginflection, prayer, a time to share more time with families and to care for others. I am going to be sharing on what is suitable for this time and season so that we can hear what God is saying and what the spirit is saying to his people, the text is taking from 2nd Samuel, 24:15-19, he quoted. When God sent a pestilence upon Israel, It was from morning to evening and many people died. It is God that permitted it and he will surely destroy it. The bible said he changed his mind and said it is enough, and the plague went away. The lord is saying enough to coronavirus, the lord has decided and he has said, it is enough. There are 7 reasons why plaques come to town, one is sin, disobedience, disbelief in God, sexual immorality, and others. I say God will stop the hand of the plague. I want to tell Nigeria that God has heard your prayers and this pestilence will stop, he said your sins are forgiven, he said he will lead our land and be attentive to all our prayers. According to Psalm 91, God will change his mind and turn this situation around so we need to sin no more and seek the face of God.
