‘The Wedding Party 1’, a romantic comedy-drama directed by Kemi Adetiba, Nigerian film producer, has been named the highest-grossing Nollywood movie of the decade.
On Monday, FilmOne Nigeria released a 10-entry listicle of the movies that grossed the highest between the year 2010 and 2019.
Adetiba’s ‘Wedding Party 1’ dominated the list, having toppled ‘King of Boys, yet another movie of hers, to rake in a total of N452 million.
Coming second on the list is the sequel to ‘Wedding Party’, which grossed N435 million, as against ‘Chief Daddy’, a 2018 film, that amassed N387 million within the period in focus.

The list, according to FilmOne, was in celebration and commendation of Nigeria’s ever-growing cinema culture.
‘Wedding Party’ follows the story of the wedding between Dunni Coker (Adesua Etomi), a 24-year-old art gallery owner, and the wealthy IT entrepreneur Dozie Onwuka (Bankole Wellington).
Obianuju, Onwuka’s mother, however, believed her son was marrying someone beneath himself as the bride’s relatives are upset about the omission of a name during the announcements.
